I was bought this as a present from a friends mum who knew about my passion for Creole and Cajun food.

at first I assumed it would be your basic genre book like the ones you see stands of. french. italian. one pot cooking. student cooking. vegetarian. chocolate. etc. , with a few recipes of interest. initially assumed it might not be that authentic.
and then you see a name like Ruby De Bois, and well, you can't NOT hear that in a comforting Southern accent.

the book is actually very good, and although small, has a variety of meat, fish, shellfish, dessert and vegetable dishes in there, all worthy of trying. the techniques are good, and the recipe for beignets was more successful than an attempt from a very lovely vintage new orleans cookbook I have. and how can you not love something that tells you how to make great beignets.

fantastic little book. it's already earned several splatters of roux and sauce. and you should never trust an un-splattered cookbook, right?

This books has some lovely recipes and is full of pictures to help you along. The design of the book is clear/colourful and fantastic for anyone to try the recipes. I always appreciate recipe books that have good photos and this one does.
