Form and function in one small package 14 Jan 2004

To make the most of this beautiful but vast mountain range, you really do need someone to nudge you in the right direction, which is exactly what Williams has done.

This really is a well-put-together series: the routes are well chosen, the descriptions are easy to follow but not oppressive, the maps are great and the photographs are stunning.

Williams has managed to make the book remarkably practical, whilst being great to look at. If I had a coffee-table small enough I'd definitely put this book on it. As it is, I'll have to leave it in my fleece pocket. Just in case...

I'm a huge fan of this series of books. They are small enough to easily fit into a pocket and detailed enough for you to plan and enjoy a great day's walking. You'll need an OS map in addition to the book, but this should be standard practice anyway. I've been using these books for several years now and very rarely find the need to look beyond them. Highly recommended.
