I generally love the Moleskine products, and I like the look of this notebook. The cover looks great, but the paper quality really lets this product down. If you write in gel pen or ink, it comes through and it's not possible to write on both sides of the paper. If you're a light pressing pencil person, this notebook will be fine. Otherwise, I'd give it a miss.

I've just bought my second pack-of-three. The name says it all "Plain Pocket Journal" - they are just that - a little notebook that fits in your pocket. The paper is thin - that's the point - a couple of dozen pages in a notebook that's still thinner than 5mm.

I use them in my work - where I research lots of topics, and need to take brief notes as I go. I can get all the notes I need about each topic on one or two pages. They're exactly what I was looking for - a little, handy-sized note book, that I can fill up in a few weeks, archive it, and move on to another.

I'm a big fan of the "proper" moleskine notebooks with their soft vinyl covers, bookmarks and handy concertina pocket at the back. These are really a pale imitation. On the positive side, I rather like the paper, which is thin enough to keep the overall notebook skinny enough for a pocket, but thick enough to take a ballpoint or gel pen. Be aware that it's too thin to take a fountain pen. The dimensions also perfectly match the other moleskine pocket notebooks, so I guess it helps keep your bookshelves looking neat. Er... the cardboard is a nice colour? Sorry, I've run out of good things to say.

The cover is not at all durable. The exposed stitching frays within a few days. The back pocket is a joke - it's just a flap of glued-on cardboard. The 1cm glue margin makes the remaining "pocket" too small to keep anything bigger than a receipt or travel card, but it's so flimsy that I wouldn't trust it to hold either of those items.

I'll be sticking to the regular moleskines or their Volant range from now on.

I bought these to use for a Christmas project. I sewed fabric to the front of them in a random patchwork fashion, and then gave them to arty members of my family with instructions that they had to do a sketch a day for 2 months. I was trying to get their creative juices flowing - and it worked. They loved it!

Just the right size for carrying around, nice paper, not very expensive.

I have these in all the time. I find them great for art journaling even if I do stick two pages together because I use wet media (paint, mediums) But they are a good size for a single subject project eg holiday, book reviews. They can take a fair bit of a battering, the little pocket comes in handy for popping stuff in I may want to glue in at a later stage, some of the pages at the end are perforated but I haven't as yet used this feature to take pages out and I can alter the cover front/back to my taste.
