The first thing to consider when debating whether to buy this album is the album's cause. Tinnitus as I'm sure you're aware is truly terrible and mind destroying, and doesn't get the kind of support other charities enjoy. I urge you to part with your £1.99 even if you are a Matt Cardle fan, or don't get the silent treatment thing.
The remixes, of silence, are actually clever. Yes there are a couple of tongue in cheek recordings, the "5'33" mix and the "Japanese Popstars watching Family Guy on mute" aren't playing with the concept too much. However, the others, are all pretty clever. Cage's 4'33 in the first place was never intended to be silent. Indeed it isn't. It makes you appreciate what's around you. The beauty of the track is the collective ramifications of the playing on mass commercial radio. Everyone will have their own noises, experiences or whatever to accompany the Cage recording. It's a genius campaign, and this clever little package with 100% of the money going to charity is well worth £1.99.
Forget the charts, but if you're only buying one single this year, who needs your money more, Simon Cowell? Or the many charities that will benefit from this album.
If the idea of 8 remixes aren't your cup of tea, I ask you, please, to download the single. 49p x 1,000,000 (the hoped-for-total) would be incredible.
