Not for dancing,

Was expecting something very different when purchased this album. It is not one that is good for practicing salsa dancing, rythms are lacking. On the look out for something else.

This CD is not a real traditional Salsa CD, but that's fine with me as my tastes tend more towards Jazz fusion. If you are in the mood for some really creative, tight arrangements and some of the most impressive horn work on any Latin Jazz CD out there, pick this one up. It's a keeper. The band on the CD (Ritmo Alegria) is led by Fayyaz Virji of Incognito fame (trombone and keyboards), and he really shows his talents for arranging and instrumentation. The CD has some of the tastiest trombone work (by Virji) ever heard in Latin Jazz, and some really nice trumpet, flute, and vocal work. I have a lot of music, but this one is currently in my list of top five favorites. My kids also like it and don't rebel when I put it back in the CD player for the 10th or 11th time.

THIS WORK OF (MUSICAL) ART WILL SATISFY ALL TRUE SALSERO CONNOISSEURS. I HAVE YET TO COME ACROSS A CD WITH ALL TRACKS THAT ARE GOOD, REALLY GOOD. I HAVE A COLLECTION OF 400 CD'S AND I CAN'T REMEMBER WHEN I HAVE PLAYED A CD AS MUCH AS I HAVE PLAYED THIS ONE! IT GETS BETTER WITH EVERY AUDITION. IT PUTS TO SHAME MOST OF OUR SO-CALLED "SALSASTARS" WITH THEIR LESS THAN MEDIOCRE PRESENTATIONS THAT MASQUERADE AS LATIN MUSIC. KUDOS TO THE ACCLAIMED HOUSE BAND"RITMO ALEGRE". THESE ARTISTAS ARE AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME AND ARE DEFINITELY AN INSPIRATION TO ANY UP AND COMING MUSICIAN. "RITMO ALEGRE" HAS DEFINED THE STANDARD TO WHICH ALL LATIN MUSICIANS SHOULD ASPIRE TO.
