Dissapointing and genreless
on 18 September 2014
I have been waiting for this release for quite some time. After I found out that Afterlife`s Steve Miller is one of the "Directors" in this album, my expectations became higher than ever. And I must say that this release didn`t fulfill my expectations at all. The last releases (18 and 19) were quite good With that wonderful balearic feel which this album lacks. To me, this was not a chill out album, but more an Acoustic album which didn`t appeal to me at all. I was quite unsure if I should even give it Three stars, if I could give it 2,5, I would. Even though this release contains songs from legendary artists like Moby and NOW, the album feels a bit like it`s compiled by coincidence. Where the last releases had great standout tunes all the way, this one is an album where I find myself waiting for the next song.
The most standout track here is disc 2 #9 - Doubter, even though it`s a Nice song, I still don`t think it belongs on a cafe del mar CD.
So my advice is, unless you are a record collector and need to have ALL the CDM - releases, skip this one, and get the Buddha Bar XVI (the best Buddha Bar album in years and WAY better than this) instead. Or get the earlier CDM issues (1-11 and 18,19, those between are boring and soulless IMO).
