5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Cafe Del Mar Album 13 Jun 2005
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I'm a chill out junkie and at the latest count I have 215 albums.
If I had to compile my own Best Of Cafe Del Mar many of the tracks would come from this CD. A truly sublime mix of styles beatifully put together. If you're new to the series, start with this one but you may want to listen to the others before you commit as the stlyes can vary quite a lot from volume to volume.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best of all the Cafe Del Mar's 20 Oct 2004
Format:Audio CD
I've got all the Cafe Del Mar albums - I collect them and treasure them like good books. If you want an introduction to Cafe Del Mar - don't get No.1, go and buy Volume 6, in my opinion this is the best of the lot, the others are good, but this is the one I will never get bored of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely MAGNIFICENT 13 April 2001
By A Customer
I first heard this cd whilst doing a working session at a friends house. I promptly 'borrowed' the cd until my friend go tso fed up with me for having it that I had to go out and buy one for my self. THE best money I've ever spent on a cd. It's mellow and upbeat at the same time, THE perfect working and ambient music for almost anything really, and the entire cd takes you on a trip and an adventure if you let it!

If you liked any of the original Cafe Del Mar series, I promise you that you'll love this. It is so similiar, but yet so different. It has its own defined edge which makes it a pleasure to listen to while laying in bed, sitting in the garden, or even while in the car driving to and from work. The hypnotic beat keeps you relaxed and occupied! A must for any CHILLOUT fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth adding to the Cafe del Mar collection 11 Mar 2009
By VCP
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Over the years I've fallen into the Chill genre and my main introduction to this very diverse field was via Cafe del Mar (Vol 9 I think!) on a flight back from Australia - instantly fell in love and never looked back. Since then have collected and savoured most of the whole series (Cafe volumes 1-11, although stopped after 11 as subsequent releases not all that) - I somehow missed this one.

Have to say when I received it, I was not disappointed and have found each and every track very listenable, enjoyable and somewhat soothing - very well constructed and sublime music - have listened to it for many hours and can see myself doing so for a long time to come. Well worth adding to the collection (got mine "nearly new" - in great condition actually), and managed to do so for a fraction of what others are selling for. Cannot praise enough - go for it!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars There is a thing as a 'good, dance compilation' 19 Mar 2001
By A Customer
From the first notes of Kid Loco's reworking of Talvin Singh's 'Traveller', I could sense that I had spent money wisely indeed. At first I was apprehensive as to what 'style' the Cafe Del Mar albums fell into and the answer is simple - None of them. The defining quality of this albums is its sheer diversity and it's ability to chart the mainstream with leftfield alternatives. Check out Track 4 and, if you own a television, you will have heard the sample before... Simply, music which can't be pigeonholed on one album.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Cafe time 30 April 2009

Hypnotic, chilled and highly addictive; this is arguably the best in the Cafe del Mar series so far. A good way in to the series too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Touched by magic..... 3 April 2000
By A Customer
I just stumbled across this while I was in a shop but it immediately took hold of me. What you get is captivating, dreamy soundscapes that transcend standard music in an almost Eno-esque way. You might feel good, you'll probably feel relaxed but you'll definitely feel something. Great stuff to have in the car on long journeys or for having in the background while fooling around with your loved one... Play track 6 - Humate's 3.2 Bedrock and I guarantee this will improve the quality of your life!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super chill
The best of the series! This was the first that I listened to and so far is my favourite of the Cafe Del Mar series. Transports the listener to warmer sunnier exotic climes.

3.0 out of 5 stars good but not great
There are some good tracks on this CD, but there are also alot of repetitive one
on here as well (and not in the good sense either). TBH i was expecting a better effort.

1.0 out of 5 stars rubbish
boring middle of the road, only fit for background music in a cafe.
Budda bar is far more interesting and superior to this cd. Waste of money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool Chill for Hot Summer
Cool, melodic, softly swinging Latino Groove. As good as, if not better than Cafe del Mar Vol.5
