This book was bought just before my 3rd section and I wish I had bought it before. The book details appropriate exercises with a time-frame and gives advice on aftercare re the scar etc. Overall, it is an informative book and written in a way that is not patronising. My only criticism is that the information on eating healthily is rather sparse and as a mum who normally gains a stone in weight through breastfeeding I was looking for more meal plans and ideas for a balanced diet tailored to a breastfeeding mum. However, it's worth it's weight in gold for the exercise advice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, so helpful 28 Sep 2011
Format:Paperback
I had an unplanned caesarean and although it was all done very well there was not much info afterwards (when I left the hospital) so I ordered this book - I was very surprised how few books there seemed to be on the subject since something like 1 in 5 women has one! It's great, I had faith in it as soon as I read a really spot-on description of how the stitches feel! It has information on what is done and how, the scar healing, what to avoid (lifting etc) and then lots of info on exercises you can do as you recover, starting from day one in the hospital (really gentle tiny movements!) through to months later. Really pleased with it, wish the hospital had mentioned it or even given it out to anyone having a c-section. It also talks about planned (elective) caesareans. Great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! 30 Nov 2010
By M
Format:Paperback
Having had my first baby by emergency Caesarean and enduring a difficult recovery, I was very anxious about my second section. Thank goodness I bought this book. Instead of spending months hunched over too afraid to stand tall and get on with physical tasks, this book gave me the confidence to help myself recover. The day after the op I stood up straight, took a walk around the ward and have never looked back. If you are due to have a Caesarean, this book is worth every penny. Good luck with your births.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book! 5 May 2013

Although having previously had a caesarean, I was booked for an elective one second time round and wished I had had this book then. I bought it just before the birth of my second and found the book covered subjects that where not mentioned elsewhere and it gave me peace of mind with how I could expect to feel and the exercises tailored to the stage of your recovery were great. It gave me the confidence to get up out of bed and get moving and I was home within 48 hours of the operation, and now nearly 8 weeks later feel back to my usual self.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wish I Had This for My First C-Section... 11 Jun 2012
By ARock
Format:Paperback
With my second c-section scheduled, I bought this book to help the recovery process. After the initial read of the this book, I wish I had this book after my first surgery. It explains the different types of c-sections, why they are performed, various exercises to start after the surgery, and generally how to take care of yourself to aide in the recovery process. Great purchase!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great info 9 Feb 2011
Format:Paperback
After previously having a normal birth, I was very nerveous about the planned c-section. I ordered this book a week to go and it was fantastic! I think you should be given this book if you have a c-section. It allowed me to follow rules of getting back into shape without overdoing it.
