Product Description

Buried deep in a ravine in the picturesque Smoky Mountains is a very dark secret.  David Hobbs, vacationing with his wife Miriam, inadvertently stumbles upon a small cloth ‘keepsake’ bag and a broken tooth.  A human tooth.  Miriam begs David to hand the bag and tooth over to park officials, but he ignores his wife’s pleas and secretly keeps the ‘harmless’ items.  The action opens a doorway that had been closed for nearly a hundred years and unleashes hell on earth, or at least hell in the lives of David and Miriam.

Following the brutal murder of his best friend in Denver, and an aborted attack on his oldest son, David desperately seeks to understand why a mysterious teenage girl has chosen to terrorize him and the males closest to him.  To prevent further devastation to his family and end the wanton bloodshed, he returns to the enchanted hills of eastern Tennessee, where a terrible truth awaits discovery...one that forces him to face the consequences for the unpaid sins of his ancestors.

***1/10/2012 update. This is the revised version of Cades Cove, based on the invaluable feedback I have received from my readers during the past year. I greatly appreciate you all~ Aiden***

Acclaim for Aiden James:

“Aiden James has written a deeply psychological, gripping tale that keeps the readers hooked from page one.”
—Bookfinds review for THE FORGOTTEN EDEN

“Not only is Aiden James a storyteller par excellence, but his material for his story is riveting.”
—Huntress Reviews

“The hook to this excellent suspense thriller is the twists that will keep readers wondering what is going on as nothing is quite what it seems. Adding to the excitement is that the audience will wonder whether the terror is an evil supernatural creature or an amoral human…Aiden James provides a dark thriller that grips fans from the opening.”
—Harriet Klausner, Amazon’s #1 book reviewer for THE FORGOTTEN EDEN

“Aiden James writing style flows very easily and I found that CADES COVE snowballed into a very gripping tale. Clearly the strengths in the piece were as the spirit's interaction became prevalent with the family… The Indian lore and ceremonies and the flashbacks to Allie Mae's (earthly) demise were very powerful. I think those aspects separated the work from what we've seen before in horror and ghost tales.”
—Evelyn Klebert, author of A GHOST OF A CHANCE and DRAGONFLIES

“Aiden James is insanely talented!”
—J.R. Rain, author of MOON DANCE and THE BODY DEPARTED

Very creepy.... 29 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This was the first book I'd read by this author so wasn't sure exactly what to expect. That being said, I was in no way prepared for how creepy this book was. It's not like a movie where you can cover your eyes until the scary part is over...you've got to just keep reading. I'm a 35 yr old woman but found myself looking behind me walking down my own hallway!!

Of course, there were a few dull parts and I sometimed questioned the thought process of some of the characters much like you do while watching a horror movie. However, all in all, a good, quick read. In fact, I couldn't put it down until I finished! I haven't done that in a while.

a bit of everything 15 Jan 2012
By AideyM
Format:Kindle Edition
I happened across Cades Cove as the first two chapters were appended to another of his books (Deadly Night)I was attracted by his writing style and was soon as hooked with the story. Aiden James manages to juggle a lively, fast paced story with humour, gore, sex, crime, horror and ghosts. The characters are well developed and how often would you feel a sympathy for a screaming wraith? James creates a series of scenarios in which, as a reader, I felt genuinely uncomfortable.
In a wildly different style from Deadly Night, he completely drew me in again. Often, no matter what the subject, an author's style shines through. In this book, like a fine actor taking on another role, Aiden James takes on another personality.

So what happens? I'm not one for giving away plot lines but what starts out as a couple having a "getting away from it" rekindling of romance holiday turns very sour when they bring home a little more than rekindled love. The story unfolds as David Hobbs makes one believable but poor choice after another up to a point where his destruction is the almost certain outcome to the story. However rather than predictably offer up "don't go in the cellar" or "don't turn on the light" scenarios, the story builds and he is offered lifelines that make the reader believe he might just have a chance after all.
I loved the way David may well have been condemned to certain and horrific death but he would stop along the way there for pancakes or a good steak.
Ultimately this book ended in a moving, considerate way and is then thrown a lifeline to a book 2. I have bought it of course. I wonder what surprises Aiden James has in store for me this time

Excellent book! 5 July 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I've heard good things about this author, and this story definitely lived up to the
billing. Lots of chills to go along with a plot that kept me on edge once things got
rolling.
