Dirty married bachelor!,

This review is from: Cactus Flower [DVD] [2002] (DVD)
It's just "rotten rotten rotten" what some dentists will do to keep from marrying a ditzy girlfriend. Julian (Walter Matthau) pretends to be married already so his truth loving girlfriend, Toni (Goldie Hawn) won't press him to marry her. When she attempts suicide, he realizes that he wants to marry her. Toni agrees only if she can meet the wife to prove that she is not a house/home wrecker. Julian comes up with a wife (Ingrid Bergman.) Toni can see that Julian's wife still loves him. Throw in the neighbor that only wares a towel, Igor Sullivan, Senor Sanchez (Vito Scotti,) a Mexican missile and a wild party. And that is where the fun begins.

Cactus Flower DVD,

I had heard of this DVD but knew only that it had the great Ingrid Bergman as a star.Amazon delivered it remarkably quickly considering it had to come half way around the world. The DVD played to perfection. I can only say that the outcome of my purchase was to my complete satisfaction. Any DVDs I would like to buy in the future will come from Amazon. I might also say that I have had the same result from them in the past with purchases.

Absolutely charming comedy - complete with killer late-60s oufits and dance moves!,

"Cactus Flower" is a quick, witty, clever romantic comedy that stars an extremely young Goldie Hawn as the wide-eyed, slightly naïve, irresistably adorable Toni, the ever funny Walter Matthau as the commitment-phobic but lovable old bachelor dentist Julian, and Bergman as Julian's beautiful but rather uptight/conservative nurse receptionist Stephanie. There are some great supporting characters as well.
I will not go into the plot of the movie as it can be read about elsewhere; I will simply say that if you are a fan of Goldie Hawn, Walter Matthau, Ingrid Bergman or just one of them, and if you enjoy a great late-1960's/early-1970's vibe, then you will love this movie. Besides the amazing script and cast, it really would worth watching for the wardrobe and haircuts alone which are all extremely "swinging 60's" - ruffles, velvet, mini skirts, the whole deal. I have always liked when movies of an older date take you around in different environments such as stores, museums, clubs, different kinds of homes or workplaces, and you really get a sense of the time period. If you have seen and liked TV shows such as "Columbo" or "The Persuaders", you probably know what I mean - when they go to some super hot spot like the hippest hair salon in town or underground art gallery and you realize what a different world it was back then, or you get to go "Oh, do you remember this and that" if you belong to the slightly older audience. This movie is jam-pakced with the designs of '60s heyday. Record stores, apartment interiors, restaurants and funky bars where Bergman and Hawn hit the dance floor and show off the grooviest moves of the day - it is priceless! So grab the chance to see Hawn at her most adorable and Bergman as you've never seen her before. It is one of my favorite comedies from the time, it is definitely very rewatchable and it will be sure to get some laughs out of you! You won't regret buying this.
