Just the thing 21 April 2010
A mono jack inserted in a stereo socket, will short out two of the connectors. This is the ideal way to avoid that. Purchased for using a mono-jack lapel microphone with a camcorder with a stereo microphone jack, it works a treat. I get a solid signal on both channels. Without the connector, I'd get voice on one and hum on the other channel. This is ideal for getting around that issue.

Good quality 25 July 2010
By Sid Nuncius HALL OF FAME TOP 10 REVIEWER
I'm very pleased with this plug. I previously had a plastic-clad one from Maplin which was cheaper, but the connections were extremely unreliable, they were loose in the socket and the sound just kept cutting out. This is a far better product, with metal cladding, far superior build quality and, most importantly, perfect fitting and connection. It's well worth playing a little extra for one that actually works! Recommended.

This does what it says - converts a stereo output to a mono one. There are some caveats though:
- If you are using this for headphones, note that it doesn't mix the two channels into both output channels, it actually outputs mono sound, meaning you only get sound in the left earpiece (both channels mixed). Not a complaint though, since that's what I needed.
- Rotating the connector, there's a 60-80 degree sector that has no signal, or the signal is flaky. This is really bad, since it's not easy to just forget about in case it moves again.
- The connections are really poor - it can slip out quite easily and the female port is quite loose. Not great.

The actual sound quality is fine, when it's connected OK. I would recommend another, better built connector though.
