USB to Parallel adapter cable alows you to seamlessly connect a parallel printer or other IEEE1284 device to a USB port on your computer. Bundled with a Centronics to Micro Centronics adaptor, it allows you to connect you parallel HP printer to your computer via USB (and any other printer that has a small micro centronics connection)

I bought this mainly because of price, I had bought a HP Laserjet1100 at a carboot but it didn't come with the data cables, I knew I would have to buy a USB to parellel adapter anyway so this just saved time especially when you think that the HP cable is £9 anyway. It arrived very fast and came with the Driver CD which on the MAC you didnt need. Mac OSX Lion recognised the device straight away and I have had no problems with it.

I used this cable to connect a NAS ( QNAP 210 ) to an HP LaserJet 1100.
It worked straight out of the box. Both the NAS and the LaserJet were perfectly happy with this product. And so am I.
Note - the LaserJet 1100 does have the Micro Centronics connector.
From what I could see, very few of these USB to Parallel cables have a Micro Centronics parallel connector, but it's not always easy to tell.
This product supports BOTH standard Centronics and Micro Centronics parallel connectors.
It worked straight out of the box. Both the NAS and the LaserJet were perfectly happy with this product. And so am I.

I ordered this thinking I at the very least would be able to use my printer with a windows machine. Lo and behold, it works out of the box with ubuntu 10.10. Sometimes things are easy.
Ideal setup if you have a cheaper/older HP printer with the micro centronics plug.
