By K. Hall
Format:Paperback
John Bullar's book provides the reader with jargon-free basic skills for making furniture and to this end he largely succeeds. Pared back text and very good in-focus detail shots of marking out, measuring, and joint cutting get the message across. There is introductory material on timber selection, choice of hand tools and the safe use of woodworking machinery followed by ten graded step-by-step projects that allow you to practice and perfect the techniques discussed. A good self-teaching book that covers all the techniques and gives advice on using tools to obtain the best results.

Format:Paperback
A great guide which takes you through choice of wood, selection and use of tools, techniques such as making joints through to projects. All areas are covered in a helpful style illustrated with detailed photographs. The ten projects progress from a simple stool to an attractive Arts and Crafts style wardrobe designed to complement the bed and bedside cabinet projects. The projects part include clear diagrams, cutting lists and photographs with good text giving you the benefit of the author's practical experience. Where there are any particular areas of difficulty in a project these are discussed and helpful advice on detailed technique is given.
The book would be a great buy for anyone wanting to start out or progress in cabinetmaking
