I ordered the non-torch version of this first but returned it because it under-weighed a little and, more importantly, the Hold function was useless. This one is no better and the torch is of little value.
OK, under-weighing is only by 1% at worst, so not too bad, but luggage scales should err on the cautious side by over-weighing, if anything. Still, as long as you know, you can take account of the error, I suppose.
As for the Hold function, it activates automatically when the weight of the object stabilises. The idea is that you can then put the object down and check the weight. But it deactivates after just a couple of seconds, not allowing enough time for you to put the bag down and check the display, rendering it useless. I assumed the first unit was faulty but this one is no better. Also, there is no beep to tell you hold is activated - you have to watch for a tiny indicator in the display.
As for the torch, I get more light from my mobile phone screen. And, unlike the non-torch version, you don't get batteries included.
This could be the perfect luggage scale. It's lightweight, versatile and easy to hold. As it is, I can't recommend it and will be returning mine.
UPDATE: The battery cover is very flimsy and broke; I had to use tape to hold it in place. Also, when I checked in, my suitcases both weighed at least 1kg more than the scales said, although whether that was down to the scales or Virgin's machine is another matter.
