I'd previously bought a "Cabin Max Purple Backpack Flight Approved Carry On Bag", and thought another one would be useful for a family trip. I saw this one and liked the look of the divider in the middle and the fact the zip was arranged suitcase style rather than backpack style. However, it has arrived today and it definitely bigger than the purple one, so much so that I can see it will have to be packed very carefully in order to avoid becoming bigger than the luggage allowance. I measured it with a tape measure, and although the back, more rigid part is the required 55x40, when I measured the other side flat it came in at 59cm wide. Clearly, as it's soft, it can be squashed to meet the appropriate dimensions, but I'd rather not have to worry about that when packing. Note that the internal divider is exactly 40cm long, which shows some lack of attention to design detail - internal dimensions need to be a bit smaller than external dimensions in order to fit neatly! So when the case is squashed to 40cm wide, the internal divider is no longer straight.
If I had time I'd swap it for another of the ones I bought earlier, but I don't think I will have time before we leave.
It's annoying because although I'd seen the reviews on this one and the comments about it being challenging to pack correctly, having seen the purple one I thought the reviewers were being oversensitive - two products from the same company, listed with the same dimensions, should have the same dimensions, shouldn't they? However, the other reviewers are not being oversensitive. Go for the backpack style (also comes in black) instead and you'll have less stresses about overfilling.

I've just done a 5 day trip to Spain with this case. The material is stronger than I expected, but the case still sags and bulges, making it very difficult to measure the dimensions when packed. I used two luggage straps to try to keep it in shape. It would hold more than I packed, but it still only just fit inside the Easyjet luggage measuring box. I'm not convinced that it would have got through if I'd filled it to the max. Anyway, despite this being the largest case I saw anyone else with on my flights, the Easyjet staff didn't give it a second glance. I took out the internal divider, which took up space while seeming to do nothing useful. The carrying handles seem pretty strong, but mostly I used the shoulder strap, which is long enough to put across the body as opposed to having it dangling from the shoulder. That was a comfortable way of carrying the case. Overall I was pleased with this purchase, being able to take a lot of things with me, but I did envy my partner who has a rigid case - although it was a bit smaller than mine she could stuff as much as possible into her case without its dimensions constantly changing.

I purchased this bag as a carry on bag for low-cost airlines, just took it on it's first trip and it served me well! Build quality seems good, size is perfect but you have to pay attention on how you pack everything so that you don't exceed max carry on size because the bag is soft. It's comfortable to use, as a backpack or with the carry strap. The internal divider is useful but not enough to hold everything in place because the internal elastic straps don't work well. So, if not fully packed, your cloths tend to move around during travel. So for the bag to be great I would trade a bit of weight for a bit of overall stiffness and some solution that allowed to secure everything in it's place.

Beats the system
I had difficulty finding enough clothes to meet the 10 kg max weight and fill this bag. It looks enormous but fits Ryannairs test box easily! Read more
