Product Description

Ti West directs this gross-out sequel to Eli Roth's 2002 horror comedy. When John (Noah Segan) decides to accompany his best friend Cassie (Alexi Wasser) to the high school prom, he quickly realises there is going to be a lot more to worry about than Cassie's jealous boyfriend. What starts out as a fun-filled evening quickly descends into a nightmarish fight for survival when the bottled water provided for the event becomes infected with a devastating flesh-eating virus. With the school put under quarantine and the students and teachers rapidly succumbing to the sickness, John and Cassie must fight for survival, even battling their infected friends in order to escape.

Wow! This is a bad movie. Directed by the usually talented Ti West (who fares a little better with his other horror movie of the month 'House of the Devil'), this follow up to the Eli Roth original is a useless waste of time with unlikable characters, a badly developed script and sub par acting and production values across the board.

The story (as is the norm with films of this kind - ie, the dumped direct to video kind) is very lazy and is content to simply rehash and pump out a dull story that neither expands on the original concept or surpass it. After an amusing prologue which ties up events from the first flick, the film nose dives at about the two minute mark in, where the 'actual' story begins. Focusing on the character of John (played by Noah Regan, who starts off as the hero, then descends into ranting lunatic) who decides to join the girl of his dreams Cassie and his best friend (Rusty Kelly as the supposed comic relief, but comes off as just annoying) at their high school prom. Following the usual teen hi jinks - including a stand off with Cassie's jealous boy friend (who sports one of those weird 70s hair do's that you never get used to), drinking, playing pranks on each other and vulgar sex scenes - the producers seem to remember what we paid for and offer an almost throw away story about the disease (you know, from the first movie!) - popping out the old ''infected bottled water'' scenario, which for some reason everybody in this movie seems to drink. Therefore, nearly everybody in the movie becomes infected and the usual blood spurting, vomit spewing and skin scratching shenanigans begin.

They do try to throw in nods to the original, such as returning Giuseppe Andrews as the dope head deputy but even his amusing asides do nothing to help this travesty.

think of a silly frat boy comedy, and throw buckets of blood over it - and you are close...
if you are looking for a follow-on from the Eli Roth original (as I was), you won't find it here.
Abysmal.

....and even then proceed with caution. Took this from work last night for a sneaky peak and it's fair to say I had mixed feelings at best over this deeply flawed sequel. Set immediately after the first movie the film shifts the action to the local high school over prom night as the infection spreads and a clean up crew turn up to kill the infected..... and thats it really, there is very little acual plot to the film.
The best comparison for this film I can think of is a herschell gordon lewis picture along the lines of blood feast, wafer thin plot, two dimensional characters all there to deliver a series of impressive and deeply sick gore sequences. Sure Eli roths origional was hardly plot heavy but at least you got some sense of who the characters were and actually found yourself caring somewhat about their fate, not in this movie where it's generic high school usa. I will admit there are a couple of nice touches in the film, the main one being the Disco scene at the prom lifted straight from the slasher classic prom night and Giussepe andrews is great returning as deputy winston but overall this film feels more than a little contrived and pointless.
I've given the film 3 stars mainly for the gore, which is definately the most impressive thing about the movie and laid on with a trowel! The whole movie seems to have been set up simply to offend the hell out of it's audience and make them puke and it does it's job well in that regard at least.
Overall if you fancy watching a bunch of well executed gore scenes then Cabin fever 2 may well be worth a look, if you want a scary, well executed horror with fun characters look elswhere because this movie certainly dissapoints.

This is the one time I'm actually wishing that there was a "0 stars" option. Unfortunately, 1 star will have to do...

I can write about this for a really, really long time, but let's keep it simple: this movie should never have been made. It is a waste of money, time, effort and brain cells. The story has nothing to do with the first instalment (which wasn't a great movie either, but compared to this one it should be awarded with at least three Academy Awards). The acting was deplorable. But most of all I'd like to complain about the horrendous quality.
I bought this movie on Blu-ray (in my defence, it was on sale for a Euro (less than £1)). The first instalment was also on sale, and I figured the I couldn't just buy one without buying the other one as well. The entire movie looked like a low quality YouTube movie, one which was lagging as well. I have never before seen such terrible quality - and no, my Blu-ray player isn't broken.

These were about 80 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. Heck, it's 1 Euro that I'll never get back. Believe me, you'll never ever want to watch this. There are so many better movies available - please, invest in those. It doesn't even matter which one. Anything but Cabin Fever 2!
