I was searching for a way to use my Bose surround sound setup with my new Samsung plasma tv, as a lot of new TV sets are not coming equipped with analog left and right channel outputs, this has been replaced or superseded with a coaxial/optical out.
Only trouble is most old amps don't have this time of connection, so this product does exactly what it says on the tin.
The product came in hard wrapped plastic and was quickly free with a pair scissors.
In the three steps I was up and running.
1.plug in the pre-supplied adapter in to the mains and connect to the converter.
2.plug in RCA audio cables from your amp source to the converter.
3.plug your coaxial/optical cable to from the TV to the optical input on the converter.
Job done.
The sound is rich and and full and none of the signal is lost, I have turned my system up pretty loud with no audible distortion.
Build quailty is very good and the unit is small enough to hide away at the back of the TV or in a cabinet.
I would recommend this product to anyone in need of using there external speakers with a new tv set or other application.

I wanted to connect my LCD TV to my existing Stereo system, but the TV only had an optical audio output.
So, I bought this AU-D3 converter
well, talk about plug & play,
Couldn't be easier to connect.
Optical cable from TV to Converter (cheapest I could find)
Connect Phono plugs from stereo (cable was already in place from my DVD player, but I wanted sound from all TV programs, not just DVDs)
Connect the little mains power adaptor that comes with it,
Switch it all on & that's it, works perfectly
So small it's easy to tuck out of the way
I'd love to see these converters a bit cheaper, but they all seem to be roughly the same price
All in all
5/5 for ease of use & function

4/5 for price
The only criticism (if I can find one) is that it would have been nice to have a fixing screw hole somewhere, but some double-sided sticky tape seems to do just as well

This is a great little product. Couldn't believe how small it was when I took it out of the packaging. Does exactly what it says. Would be nice if it had a remote control to switch inputs but for the price I'm not complaining.

Brilliant device
This was just the device I needed to connect my new Samsung TV to my surround sound system quick and easy to set up connected in no time I would certainly recommend this item

Works really well
I connected up my mum and dads old pioneer amp to their new flat screen tv with this and an optical cavle and phono cable. Works like a treat.
