"Culture Clash" was written by an Egyptian Muslim who, although being a graduate and teacher at Islam's premier imam-training school (al-Azhar University in Cairo) in the 1970s, and upon becoming disillusioned with Islam, converted to Christianity in 1993 C.E. From his thorough understanding of Islam, the author has written a truly heart-felt book in explaining how Islam has developed the thought-process of Muslims in opposing democracy, individual liberty and all other religions. As he appropriately titled his book, it is indeed a "Culture Clash" between Islam and Western civilization. He notes as much in his preface: Islam "is fighting Western culture because the culture of the West and the culture of Islam as it was practiced by Muhammad cannot coexist." The chapters in this book are: The Foundation of Islamic Culture (How Muhammad created Islamic culture; The past rules the present.); The Nature of Islamic Culture (Prayer and washing, fasting and pilgrimage, daily life, stereotypes about non-Muslims, the wall between Muslims and non-Muslims, personality trails that cripple Muslim society); Women in Islamic Culture (Muhammad's stereotypes about women, Islamic law about marriage, women's rights under Islam, loss of freedom for women); The Clash Between Islamic Culture and American Law (seven ways Islamic law clashes with western law, what Islam teaches about democracy, establishing democracy in Iraq and the middle east, separating religion and politics); and the Future of the Culture Clash (the war of ideas). For those who may be unfamiliar with Islam, the author reviews the religious foundations of Islam to help the reader understand the "why" as to how Islam so much conflicts with individual liberty. The author bolsters his contentions by providing specific citations from the Muslim's holy book: the Quran. For those who are already familiar with the author's other books, "Culture Clash" is a new expansion of his revelations about how Muhammad (PBUH) birthed Islamofascism.
