Completely revised and updated to reflect the latest Cascading Style Sheet specifications in CSS 2.1, this indispensable little book covers the most essential information that web designers and developers need to implement CSS effectively across all browsers.

Inside, you'll find:

  • A short introduction to the key concepts of CSS

  • A complete alphabetical reference to all CSS 2.1 selectors and properties

  • A chart displaying detailed information about CSS support for every style element and its cross-browser compatibility

This reference neatly condenses the details of its top-selling companion volume, Cascading Style Sheets: The Definitive Guide into one easy-to-use cheat-sheet that delivers all the CSS details you need to complete the task at hand. Whenever you're stuck and need an answer quickly -- or if you just want to be sure you're applying CSS correctly -- this edition of the CSS Pocket Reference is the book you'll want by your keyboard or, conveniently, in your back pocket.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a Reference 24 Mar. 2008
By LWSG
Format:Paperback
When I saw that Eric Meyer released a CSS Pocket reference I was certainly happy to hear this as I enjoy a good quick reference at my hand. When I got the book however, I was disappointed. This book may be many things, but it is not a reference book. Apart from the index at the back there is no way to quickly look up certain properties, but seeing as the index is ordered alphabetical this only helps if you know the name of a style porperty. The content overview is on one single page and summarizes the section titles such as floating rules and positioning rules. If you are looking for a breakdown based on what the styles group under, such as text formatting styles for example, then this book will disappoint you as well.

Being new in the area of web design and development and determined to make standards-compliant and lightweight webpages, I needed to spice up my CSS, after studying the basics. This particular handbook has been of great value to me, both because of its exhaustive property reference and its theoretical refinement of some CSS "gray areas" that not many people know about. The "supported browser" list underneath every CSS property made me nod approvingly. Finally, its small and practical size means I can carry it around in my laptop case without any burden and consult it during long uni breaks. Definitely recommended, great value for money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Handy little CSS reference 29 Jan. 2010
Format:Paperback
CSS pocket reference is a good book for a quick reference. Do not get this book if you want to learn CSS. However, if you know CSS and you want a handy pocket reference this is ideal.

This book could do with some updating, I would have liked to see mozilla and webkit specific CSS items in here.

Some lined pages would have been handy at the back for when new CSS items come out.

A little dated but a good reference anyway.
