I'm pleased with it. Primarily I chose it for the battery life which is not as good as it claims but is good for a few hours which was what I was expecting. The keyboard is really good to type on, reasonably quiet. The page up and down keys are further away than I would like, so I am getting used to the scroll on the touchpad which is very sensitive. The laptop came pre-installed with tonnes of stuff like norton and some kind of kiddie friendly lockdownable desktop, and compaq 'help' assistant stuff. I uninstalled all of that, you might want it, and put Chrome on for a browser and AVG for security. The wireless connection is really quick to connect and logon, it didn't like my passphrase, so I had to type the hex version (but hey that is a one time job). The boot up time is approx 30 seconds to the security login screen, then 30 seconds more to see the desktop and for the hourglass (ok circle thing with windows7) to stop grinding. Word in Office 2007 is very different from word2003 btw, I can see that for a new user to word it is better, but I haven't got my head around all of the differences yet. Windows7 itself is well organised and unobtrusive, I have no complaints which is what you want from an OS.
I added this review because one of the others reads like it was composed by a mad person and I felt I was taking a small chance in ordering the laptop, but it was all fine and arrived the next day after ordering, which was all good. I got a belkin sleeve case to go with it, which fits it well. I have managed to crease it already, but it keeps the pets and dust off.
I have not played any games on the machine yet.
