I would say that this fan does the job. However, it must be noted that it is designed to fit the old generation of xbox's, the one's without the GPU heatsink add on. I would also advise, if confident enough, to make some case modifications to allow better airflow. Nevertheless, this fan has served me well in keeping a red ring damaged xbox cool enough to function more reliably.
If you don't know how to fit this product or what you are doing don't buy it like the 1 star reviewer did.
This is an excellent product and is easy to fit, although it doesn't come with instructions, they can be found on the XCM site (i didn't need the them as it was straight forward).
Conclusion:

Think twice before purchasing this. It requires the X box to be taken apart to install and there are no instructions! I ended up having to sort out my son's x box after he had tried to install himself without letting on what putting this item in involved!! Nearly a disaster (had 3 red lights at one stage!) but salvaged after some fatherly intervention saved the day !!!
It may be cheap but it nearly cost my son his x box 360. Oh and incidentally it didn't fit well into the HALO version of the xbox 360 and needed radical surgery to get it any where near in. Eventually we gave up, binned it and installed a replacement twin fan instead which now works fine. However due to all the disruption taking apart and reconstructing the X box I had to ARCTIC SILVER the heatsinks back onto the processors again before it would work.
Overall the moral is - if it isn't overheating leave well alone - even if it does give cool colours once installed. Ask yourself is it really worth the potential loss of your x-box 360 just for that?
