Good Quality Case 30 Dec 2011
By Michael
I buy a lot of products from Amazon but this particular item I purchased elsewhere.
==================================================================================
Cooler Master is a well known brand amongst the PC building crowd and they are known for their good quality, budget priced PC cases.
I bought this for my first self-built desktop PC and at the outset I must say I'm very pleased with how it came out - it's actually very easy once you get into it.
The case itself comes with everything you need to assemble your PC. Some case also come with a (sometimes rubbish) power supply, but not this one - I bought a good quality Corsair power supply.
It has all the screws and fittings to install the drives and the motherboard as well as a multi-language pamphlet with all the instructions.
The case comes with a 120mm fan fitted to the front panel - I fitted another 80mm fan on the back panel as well.
The front panel sockets all have their own wires which you can connect to your motherboard.
Both Intel HD Audio and AC'97 plugs are supplied depending on your motherboard's audio support.
Care needs to be taken with a couple of things:-
1.) Make certain you fit the motherboard spacers in the correct holes - any spacers that don't align with the holes could cause a short-circuit if it touches any part of the motherboard.
2.) Ensure that you use the right screws in the right places - there are two types of screws which look similar. Hard drive and DVD drive screws are not the same as case screws.
All in all I am happy with this case.
==================================================================================
I bought a Mini-tower case and a microATX motherboard because I wanted one that was the same as my previous PC - a shop-bought Dell Dimension and for most users it is a perfect size. I wish, however that I had bought a mid-tower case like the Elite 330 Mid Tower Chassis along with a full ATX motherboard like the Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H (rev. 2.2) - Motherboard - ATX - Socket AM3 - AMD 880G - USB 3.0, FireWire - Gigabit Ethernet - onboard graphics - HD Audio (8-channel). I subsequently installed a graphics card which fills the only PCIe x16 slot that the board has. If I want to later fit an additional graphics card in CrossfireX configuration for multi-monitor driving sims, this motherboard and case is too small.
==================================================================================
If you want to build a PC for multi-monitor gaming and there's a chance you want to go the CrossfireX route, buy a full ATX motherboard and a mid-tower or full-tower case not like me.

price is the best feature 13 May 2010

CoolerMaster Elite 342
The picture does not show the hard drive 'stack'. It will hold 4 drives; using screws.
The hard drive 'stack' is attached at the bottom of the case with four screws (These are screwed in from under the case.); and a thumb screw at the bottom of the 3.5inch cage. I thought screws thru the bottom of case was unusual.
Another non-obvious detail is the fan outlet on the side panel only has holes for two fan screws; the other two spots are merely indentations.
Those remarks aside...
I built a low power H55m based system with an i 330 cpu. I put a 92mm PWM fan in back (rear fan not included; but 120mm fan for hard drives is included).
things worked out fine. no case vibration. It is very pliable metal so be gentle. Furthermore, the light weight causes the whole machine to move when I press power button to start PC.
Decent for the price 11 Sep 2010

I got this case on Amazon because of free shipping. The case isn't bad. It's very light, which is a plus for me while building a server machine. It's a little cramped for space, but it's not unmanageable. What bothers me is mostly that one of the side plates isn't very sturdy and will bend inward if you push on it, but it's not too big of a deal.
OK for the price 23 Aug 2010

It is a decent looking case for a budget build.

The manufacturer's website says the side fan is optional
80/90 mm. No, it does not have the mounting holes for 80mm fan.

Another issue is that the front panel wires are attached to
the bezel. Be careful or they will come undone when you remove the
bezel.

The bezel removal itself is tricky, you have to pull it out from the
bottom with a lot of force. Don't know why they did'nt use the standard
push a latch mechanism, especially when the front IO panel wires
are attached to the bezel.

Overall ok, but would not recommend it to anyone.

Cooler Master has some great cases, this is not one of them.
