Product Description

Clean every groove of your precious records thoroughly! No matter how carefully you handle your old records: During the course of the years dust particles get accumulated in the grooves and cause clicking and cracking noises. This cleaning unit cleans even the dirtiest records and permanently prevents static charges. Even records which always had to be played ?wet? can now be played dry! So ?Disco-antistat? maintains disc value perfectly. But most of all, it is a joy to hear your old record collection sounding like new! Suitable for 33, 45 and 78 rpm records.

4.0 out of 5 stars cheap build quality but great results 30 Dec 2010
Straight out of the box, the Knosti doesn't really look anything special. The plastic is very cheap looking but don't let that put you off; it's a great machine.

My main advice is DON'T USE THE SUPPLIED FLUID. It certainly cleans records but leaves a sticky residue behind it which slowly but surely gunks up your stylus tip. Believe me, this happened to me. The solution is cheap and simple. Make up your own fluid using 700ml lukewarm water, two drops of washing-up liquid and a cap of distilled malt vinegar. I've used this and it works great. Pour the fluid away and make up a new jug for every batch of 15 records.

I'd recommend the Knosti to anyone who has a lot of secondhand records of dubious provenance. Some real old clunkers in my collection came up shining after a run through the Knosti. It's the only practical budget solution to those ridiculously priced vacuum cleaner efforts.

Further advice: After cleaning, leave your records to dry for approx 1 hour then put them away into new poly-lined inner sleeves. If you've got plain paper ones then bin them.

1.0 out of 5 stars "Disco-Antistat" record cleaner 4 Jun 2010
As a vinyl collector I was very happy to see this record cleaner on Amazon and at a good price ! I followed the guide and let the vinyls dry for two days after washing just to be sure. Initial thoughts were great...I had just cleaned about 12 vinyls and they all looked shiny and as good as new.

I played the record and noticed a white granual / fluff start to build up on my Ortofon concorde needle after a few bars of the tune and half way through thought enough with this. So I cleaned the needle (these don't come cheap you know...) and started to play the vinyl from the beginning again. The white build up was still present and I proceeded to re-clean my stylus.

I stared down at my other vinyl I had cleaned and didn't feel too happy as I knew I was going to have to re-clean these records with a completely different cleaner.

I did play a couple of other records I had cleaned with the "Disco-Antistat" record cleaner and the same white sludge formed on my stylus.

I am really disappointed to say the least as the instructions clearly state that the cleaning solution evaporates. It might evaporate after an initial inspection i.e holding the vinyl under a light (the record surface looks as good as new!) but a dried solution stays in the record grooves. This defeats the object in my opinion.

I must admit, before I purchased this I did a little background research on the net but only found nice comments like the other two on this site. I did find one bad comment but my need for a cleaner persuaded me the person must have just used it wrongly.

How wrong I was.

For the love of vinyl...

5.0 out of 5 stars Â'Disco-AntistatÂ' record cleaner 9 April 2010

When looking for a cleaner for my vinyl collection all I could find were cleaners costing several hunderd pounds. When I found this cleaner I thought I might as well "Give it a try" and did not expect too much from such a simple machine.
I started to clean some albums as soon as the cleaner arrived, and was truly amazed at just how clean this simple little machine gets your vinyl.I had a few singles with slight Haze scratches, after cleaning they had all but gone and the record now played like it did when new.
I would highly recommend this cleaner, have since cleaned 200+ singles and 150 albums, and still have plenty of solution left.

4.0 out of 5 stars Disco-Antistat Record Cleaner
Easy to use and quite effective. Slight problem as records take longer to dry than expected and pouring liquid back into container can be tricky.
