Product Description

Summary The Colorfly C3 is the Colorfly for us mere mortals who may actually be feeling this recession squeezing us. As music lovers we want the best and the player with the most clarity and detail but having written to Santa for a C4 and finding him unreliable with the orders Colorfly have catered to our needs by introducing the new C3. This player not only packs some decent components to hit you up with a decent interpratation of your music but it looks great too. If the C4 were Robin Hood the C3 would be Flash Gordon ;) its a far more up to date look not saying that I dress like flash Gordon anymore but you get the idea? Bangs for the buck the Colorfly C3 really does come up trumps! This is a baby player, people will look at it in derision, I mean it looks like a fat $5.00 player, the interface is temperamental, there is no such thing as a play list, but it does log music chronologically by addition - not name, it can only be upgraded with a maximum 32GB Micro sd card (no higher and in Fat 32 format) - There is no Album Art, no internet connectivity, and it can't drive a pair of full on ear headphones well (I can't get them to run with full sound on my Sennheiser Momentums without adding a C&C BH2 amp - great sound if you do add one though) and it weighs quite a bit (and that is the point when you realize looks mean nothing) it just plays music, pure music

Now pair this player with a decent Wav or Flac rip and add a pair of fairly good iem's (I run with Sennheiser ie80's) and Wow just Wow: the sound is crystal clear, with every instrument pristine and sharp. Details are there for the exploring and you realize that you have never really listened to music before; I just bought a Fiio X5 which is a tank compared to this (at least 3 x as big, but the sound (whilst better) is only marginally so).

I wholeheartedly recommend this player

You will note that there are those who either hate it or love it. I'm the latter I listen to music and have not been put off by the most basic of interfaces. My primary consideration is musicality at an affordable price. If like me you like your music pure you will not be disappointed.!

Wow. I've wasted a lot of money on iPods over the years then. Discovered this beauty after stumbling upon its big brother. £500 notes was too much for me, but then I realised it had a little brother, the C3. It's only got 8GB on board, but it has a micro SD slot, and £15 will pick you up a 32Gb card.

If you rip a CD to FLAC and drop it on to this, then plug in a pair of half decent headphones and hit play, you will be amazed at what you hear. It's like listening to the original CD being played through a quality CD player. You really have to hear it to believe it.

There is no iPod gimmicks to this. You can't play games on it. It just plays music, very, very well.

As a final note, it's also built like a brick ...house. Is a little bigger than a box of matches, and it's battery will last you eight + hours of playback.

In short, get one, and love your music again.

It sounds beautiful. clear / crisp with bass, its the best small player I have ever heard. Clarity with a Punch.
but the controls are like learning a new language in another world.
If quality of sound that matters above all else then buy one you will love it but if you love iTunes you will hate it.
plays Flac files beautifully. I love this lovely crazy little metal cased well made weirdo.

I have been using this little player for more than a year and am very happy with it. I agree with many critics that the user interface is really clumsy. I am sometimes struggling with a lack of responsiveness of the touch screen too. The C3 can only display and play the music files in the same order you have copied them on the player. It is therefore advisable to plan carefully how to organize the files before copying them on the player. I have copied my FLAC files on a 32GB Micro SD card in a structure starting with folders for genres, then sub-folders for artists, then sub-folders for albums which works fine. This order remains stable on the player as copied.

The main thing to me is the sound quality and it is phantastic using a good headphone or IEM. The background is very black, the resolution is excellent, the mids are warm and clear, and the bass is deep and and cracking as I like it on my Denon AH-D7100. The C3 is able to drive even a 300 Ohm headphone like the Sennheiser HD-800 and HD-650 and sounds certainly much better than an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S3 or Sony NWZ with which I could compare it. I do also like it's small size, very solid build and over 10 hours of battery performance. The player has so far never let me down.

I have had for some time the C3's "big brother" C4 available for intensive listening and have to say this unit sounds clearly better. However, while using the same user interface (with all its flaws), it costs several times more and is far bigger.

COLORFLY C3 8GB MP3 HiFi Music PlayerI was looking for a portable player to play my Classical FLAC files and the COLORFLY C3 semed to fit the bill so my wife bought it for me for Xmas. The COLORFLY C3 produces beautiful sound however frustating interface means it cannot be recommended. I ripped my Classical Music CD's using DBPowerAmp as FLAC files. After importing the tracks they got jumbled up out of sequence also after each track it stops, really very annoying for classical music. Further I bought a 64GB additional memory micro SIM but when connecting to my LAPTOP it indicated only 24GB was available after formatting. My Laptop uses Windows 7 64bit

Also don't expect any help from the manual or trying to google help
All in all very disappointing especially a pity with the undoubted very high quality of the sound
