I just took (and passed, yea!) exams AD1, 2, and SA1. I prepared with this book and the McGraw Hill "Lotus Notes Certification Guide", oh, and 3 years application development experience too.
This book has a lot of information. But, I think if your immediate goal is to pass the tests in order to prove you know something about Notes, there is too much information to absorb. The McGraw Hill book does a better job of targeting what the tests require. While I'm all for learning everything you can about Notes, the best way to do that it to use it (create apps, and/or administer Notes users/networks/servers). I found the explanations in this book to be too deep - too much for the tests, which aren't that deep really. Unfortunately I found the tests concentrated on rather unimportant aspects of Notes; e.g., shared mail. Bottom line is the McGraw Hill book focuses on the obscure things on the test, while this book (to it's credit) tries to tell you everything about Notes.
In particular, I found the explanations of certificates, domains, networks, to be too complicated compared to the McGraw Hill book, which did a simpler job of it.
Ideally, you'd have both books.
I also recommend reading about 1 exam's worth of stuff, then immediately taking the exam. Don't wait or you'll have to read it again. Don't more than one exam at a sitting either - I did and almost blew the AD2 exam while nearly acing the SA1 exam - which was the last thing I read.

I would have to agree with the other comments, I too found numerous errors in the book and experiennced bugs in the software. I actually purchased this book in a bookstore for about 65$, which I feel was a bit pricey, compared to similar books.
This book has become an invaluable resource for me. Often I find answers to questions and troubleshooting problems I cannot find in the Lotus Books. It has been a vital tool for examination preparation. So far I have read the AD1, and AD2 section and some of the SA1 section. I am currently studying for AD2.
I would have given this five stars except for the mistakes in the book, software bugs, and the price.
I would also comment that it definitely is in-depth coverage and the test questions are much trickier and harder than the actual Lotus exams! I barely scored above 73% on the test CD questions, however when I took the Lotus AD1 test I only missed two questions and I was very suprised at how easy it was. (I felt I could have passed it months sooner.)
I have not purchased the other Certification book mentioned. Depending on how future test go I may purchase that one also.
Good luck to everyone testing! I would encourage you to do a thorough study of a single test for bout 3 weeks then do a final week review session, and don't be afraid to take the real test if you only score in the 70's on the practice software. It is a bit overkill.

I've used Lotus Notes for about 2 years now, and when I decided to go for the Exam, I picked a couple of Exam Preparation Books for Notes 4.x. This Book was by far the Best. It Covered the Material in a Nice and organised small chapter topics. Each Chapter covered One Main Topic including Labs and Samples that help the Reader Understand the Material perfectly. Even some of the complex Administration Topics where introduced with Nice Little Funny Symbolic Stories that made the material easy to Know and hard to Forget. With the Help of this book I managed to get through all Lotus Notes Exams in few Weeks. This book is not for beginners who want to learn How to develop Large Scale Applications using Notes, but it does provide the Necessary background and all the available tools to get into Notes Development. For established Developers, this book will be an easy read through. For Administrators, it covers all the needed background in great detail and organises the Lotus Not! ! es Manual Material in a easy structure . I Highly Recommend this book. And I hope the Authors will follow with other Notes Topics and Domino Web Development Material.

Highly recommend this book for exam preparation. This book will help you focus on the materials necessary for the particular exams and leave you well prepared. Your exam prep should also include practice exams. Can't recommend the CD one way or the other, because after having read the other reviews I used SelfTest software for the practice exams instead.
I bought this book solely to help me prepare for the CLP exams, which it did. However, it was a little irritating that the chapters weren't organized by test content. This book was very poorly edited, but that seems to be the trend in most exam prep books, including the MCSE series.
I'm sure I'll continue to use this book as a reference guide from now on. It presented some things much better than the Lotus documentation ever did.

After seeing that the average number of stars given for this book is 4 I am left wondering whether I have a completely different version on my hands. It is bad enough that the book wasn't edited properly before release - a 28 page errata is available on their internet site - but there are also numerous technical faults that leave me qestioning the information I read. I am about to sit the final exam in my CLP. On reflection I would have been better off downloading documentation from the Lotus site (as I ended up doing) and paying for dedicated exam CDs instead of buying this book To add insult to injury the publishers suggest that they are interested in feedback as part of continuous improvement. I emailed them 6 weeks ago - still no response.
