Product Description

Desperate, and fairly incompetent,Todd Percival is not having a very good week. His downstairs neighbour's night terrors have left him devoid of the substantial period of sleep which is absolutely essential for anyone contemplating a day of teaching Science to some 'less than enthusiastic' teenagers. When his woes are compounded by the double-whammy of his headmaster leaving the sinking ship to do a moonlight-flit to a different continent and the heartbreaking discovery that the love interest he has worshipped (from across a crowded, de-motivated, staffroom) had taken to French kissing a much more desirable male colleague than he, Todd decided to take stock of his present lifestyle/rut. True to his purely sedentary character, Mr Percival decided to tough it out until pensionable age or death (whichever came first).
Bizarrely, the latter of this brace of eventualities was soon to rear its ugly, fatalistic, head when our questionable hero suffered a pre-planned, and almost lethal, electrocution event. The perpetrator of this 'full-body ionisation' could have been any one of a legion of suspects who had an axe to grind concerning the clinically unlucky, and slightly charrred, victim. Even with the help of the finest brains of the Merseyside Police Force, Todd was unable to discover the identity of the psychotic mind behind this darkest of deeds (and also the, particularly gruesome, murders of two of his acquaintances).
Fearing a follow-up dosage of voltage he took the life-changing, and potentially life-preserving, decision to quit is quasi-career and take a year out to 'find himself' (you'll have to ask him what that means....) whilst travelling around this beautiful little planet of ours.
A catalogue of calamities accumulate in poor 'Percy's' diary entries as he struggled to come to terms with the colourful cultures of his first series of destinations in South America. Unfortunately, but not unsurprisingly, things go terribly badly (and we're talking disastrously here) somewhere in deepest Peru.............

More About the Author

The author was born into the austere world of 1950's Bootle (just missing out on the delights of post-war rationing). He enjoyed a very happy childhood living in an extremely un-insulated council house with his parents and sister, surrounded by a supportive community of neighbours. His early education was undertaken at Sterrix Lane Primary in an old barrack hut vacated by an 'anti-aircraft battery' (which, somehow, managed to be even colder than his perma-frosted bedroom). The teenage Bryn spent most of his time swatting at Bootle Grammar School for Boys (to a soundtrack of the impeccable music of The 70's). Parry emerged from his 'school years' long-haired and eternally grateful to Harold Wilson for withstanding intense pressure from 'across the pond' thereby saving him from having 'The Vietnam Experience'. During his periods doing 'The Higher Education Thing' the author accumulated a minimalist wardrobe plus a BEd(Hons.), MSc and PhD at Edge Hill and Liverpool University. A prolongued career as a Secondary School Teacher came to its glorious climax in 2005 with only a minor set of 'nervous twitches' as a legacy. In the few fleeting moments left unaccounted for whilst maintaining his three 'highly energy-efficient' little children, the author has managed to write some books. You might find them funny...................

1.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the WORST book I've ever read! 23 Mar 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Badly written with numerous grammar and spelling errors, this book is also nonsensical and inaccurate.
The plot is ridiculous. It tries to be witty and humorous but fails miserably. The book takes a long time to get started - the first half of the book seems entirely preoccupied with setting the scene in unnecessary detail.
The ending is weak and gave me the impression that the author had given up and stopped writing mid story.

The main character in this book was a total dork, and the book was pretty boring. I almost stopped reading it several times, but it justggoes against my grain to not finish a book once I start it. I do not recommend reading this book.
