Product Description

Product Description
This book has two aims:
1. to carve a path through the complex histories and issues of film and cinema studies, focusing on selected key topics, including Hollywood's histories and how authorship, stardom, globalized blockbuster cinema and its pleasures, as well as its disappointments, might be thought out;
2. how such debates and histories might connect both the very real pleasures of a 'consuming' cinema, with the need for a critical politics to address the persistent inequalities of modernity.

About the Author
Gill Branston lectures and researches in Film Studies in the School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies at Cardiff University. She has published widely in the areas of Film and Television Studies and most recently completed the second edition of the very successful textbook, The Media Student's Book (1999), with Roy Stafford.
