1.0 out of 5 stars Whatever you do DON'T buy this toy! Should be zero stars, 9 Jan 2008
By winnie the pooh (Newcastle, England) - See all my reviews
Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this toy for my son for Xmas and although we don't normally go for these hand held games I was swayed by the Carol Vorderman endorsement. This is a dreadful toy. It is very basic in its design of the tasks and in graphics. The screens are not user friendly and the "challenges", if you can call them that, are weak. One is to create pictures by joining the dots shown on the screen - utter con. Another is a basic form of Suduko but smaller and instead of numbers it uses shapes (all using the grid square). This is frankly a bit pathetic. The other challenge is to guide a "ball" around a maze like a labryinth and you have to actually tip the handset from side to side. It doesn't move unless you tip it dramatically but this leaves you with no control over where the ball goes. I am a patient person who loves challenging games and will sit for hours puzzling over them. This however left me wanting to throw the handset against the wall. It was so awful and so frustrating. Do not believe for one minute that this is a cheaper version of brain training on Nintendo DS as that would be like comparing a childs pedal car to an Aston Martin!! Please do not buy this. I can only assume that Carol Vorderman is one of those celebrities who will put her name on any old trash just so long as they send her a cheque.

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute and utter TRASH!!!!, 31 Mar 2009

Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

I don't think I've ever had the cause to write such a scathing Review as this, but honestly...

I agree ENTIRELY with the earlier of the two previous Reviews here who thinks this is utter rubbish - and they are right! About the only thing one can say about this is its durability - it's well-made and robust, and unlike many cheapo 'touch-screen' games you can buy, does actually function correctly and respond to the Stylus, however, no amount of praise in that direction can outshine the utter trash that this really is...

The 'Sudoku' type game is a big con. Instead of numbers, it has symbols - okay, so nothing wrong with that you might think, until that is, you realise that some of those symbls are also used to make up the sections that are designed to appear to separate each of the nine grid squares! The inevitable result being - yes, you got it; you can hardly tell the difference, and so it becomes utter and total confusion... (perhaps this was some perverse way of the Designer to use the argument that it keeps the brain alert in attempting to distinguish the difference between the two!?) Anyway, the other games/tests are no better... The 'Maze' does not function well (again as the other and wise Reviewer has pointed out) and so all in all, this is only fit for the dustbin...

Finally, what I would say is; I did not purchase this because it had been endorsed by Carol Vorderman - on the contrary; since I once read a long time ago that she intended on making as much money as she could, I guessed that included endorsing some rubbish along the way...

Do not buy this waste of space - it's simply LOUSY!
