This book as stated in the description is a review book, it's only 264 pages and states the following in the description: "is ideal for people who have taken CEH classes and need a last-minute review."
Using only just the book you won't pass the CEH exam - if you're self studying for the exam. The content of the book is average, most CEH objectives are covered but the topics lack depth. I gave this book 2 stars as most topics are covered but as mentioned above, the book lacks depth. The book could have had included critical information regarding certain topics without the need of increasing the page numbers.
If you're self studying for the CEH exam I'd say that this book is helpful, providing you have used other self study material to accompany this guide.

Not only for the CEH exam

This book is great. Why? Well it's not just because its a great study guide for the CEH exam (Certified Ethical Hacker), but also for the amount of info crammed into a small book. If you're wanting to learn the basics of ethical hacking, then this is the book. Its a quick read, packed full of interesting workable senarios.
What this book is:
1. A great book for your junior security people.
2. Very easy to work through the chapters as labs.
3. Lots of references to cool programs you can find and download.
What this book isn't:
1. Your not going to learn any code.
2. If you're already a better than average hacker this book is not for you.
3. You won't get CEH certified with this book as a stand alone.
4. You do need a basic understanding of networking, security and systems. (This book isnt hacking for dummies).

CEH in a nutshell

If you want to go for the CEH certification this book is a pretty good companion. It touches all the objectives for 312-50. But most of the time it's done in just a few lines. So you'll need additional training or bring a lot of experience to pass the CEH exam. If you realy want to know more about ethical hacking and/or penetration testing try the Offensive Security training by the makers of Backtrack.

I find this to be a very important summary review guide, it is only 200 pages.It goes to the core of the CEH exam requisites.
There are other books that you should also use, other books, just don't depend on one book. The following is a detailed book with about 50 or so labs, you need to start using the tools of the trade, and this book will start you off from get go.
