Amazing value for money!,

Back in 1980 very few people owned video recorders therefore there were really no music videos. I remember 2-Blondie and Gary Numan and then came along Jethro Tull's Slipstream. I loved this one plus the L.P. "A" because they sounded and looked saw up to date as compared with Heavy Horses and Stormwatch where they looked so old! Eddie Jobson gave them the early 80s sound (Ultravox,Numan etc) which Ian continue to use especially on "Under Wraps" 4 years latter. The video showed Ian should have tried some acting as well especially in the nos. "Sweet Dreams" and "Too old...."-also very funny! Since dvds started all Tull fans have been waiting for this video to be transfered to dvd and prepared to pay 12-15 quid for it - BUT wait we're getting it for free! Thanks Ian - amazing value!

Jethro Tull released the album initially intended to be an Ian Anderson solo project in the early eighties. I must say it is my least faviourite album with not one song that really grabs you. Also, as much as I admire Eddie Jobson's talents, I can't help but feel that I resent him for taking the great John Evan's place in the band. This is also true for Barrie Barlow. This absense is especially noticable on the DVD. Which brings me to the highlight of the buy.The DVD is Slipstream, the half concert half vidio extravaganza that was shown during the same time as 'A' was released, and is of high quality and makes the album worth getting. It is, as mentioned in over reviews, worth buying by itself let alone free! Three cheers for Mr Anderson I say. What a bargain. It makes this album go from a one star to a four star in my opinion. If you don't own this then I strongly suggest you get it!

I read a lot of mixed reviews about this cd and I put off buying it for some time. What a bad decision. "A" is actually a great collection of songs. Yep, definately of its time, but still very much a Jethro Tull album of substance. "Flyingdale Flyer" and "Black Sunday" are absolute winners straight away. But whats more pleasing about all the tracks here is that they have depth and grow on you the more you listen. Thats one of the reasons I enjoy most Jethro Tull's music - it gets better the more you listen to it and you never tire of it. And as a final reminder of how Anderson can turn a tune, "And Further On" rounds off the cd beautifully.
As for the DVD, awesome!!!! I would have paid twice as much just for the DVD its that good. If you like Jethro Tull and you havent got this cd/dvd, you're mad.
