The book is very easy to read and takes good effort to explain in a simple way the concepts and exam materials. They take a good emphasis on what you must know for the test and what you should know even if is not test covered.
The CD has a lot gadgets that eventually may come in hand during you CCENT preparation. Even a "light" version of Boson NetSim, which I haven't tried.
I, overall, find this book enjoyable, well explained and complete.
So, why the 3/5 stars? It has some unforgivable errors.
There are some examples that state one thing but then the illustration or the example say otherwise. The most notorious cases is when they talk about IP addressing, in some examples they show and IP address on its decimal form and then convert it into binary, but in a completely different number!!! The same thing happens in some network diagrams where the IPs do not match of they even repeat IPs for different routers or/and subnets.
Even when they explain how to configure the hyper-terminal, the explanation has one configuration (erroneous) but the illustration has another different (the correct one).
I already have read other CCNA/CCENT books so I am familiar with the material, and I could spot the errors, and understand what they tried to explain. I do not know if someone that reads the CCENT material for the first time could overcome this or get utterly confused. Hence the 3 stars.
Hopefully they will correct all that I mentioned in future editions, the book itself is actually pretty good, but I could not find any contact info for the autors for feedback.
