Looking for a book to get you your CCDA, well I am afraid this book falls a little short.
I do not want to sound to harsh, as the layout and explanations within the book are excellent, but the content does not seem to marry fully with the Cisco objectives and exam questions.
I found the overview of routing protocols (particularly OSPF/BGP) most useful as a primer. The section on IPv6 is good as well.
The section on Business Goals/Constraints and Technical Goals / Constraints needs more work. This is a very ambigous element of the CCDA certification and the book does not really help in explaining the intricacies of Top Down Design.
The section on SAFE is quite good, however you will need to supplement this with the SAFE whitepaper on the Cisco website.
I was dissappointed with the test engine provided on the CD Rom. The questions are just a rerun of all the questions in the book. Incidentally some of the answers to the questions on the CD rom are wrong and in contradiction to the answers within the book (unforgiveable).
This really brings me to the point on errors. The book has many errors, nothing too significant, however irritating. An example of this is the misprinting of the Format Prefix for IPv6 Site Local addresses.
If you have a grounding in Cisco (with perhaps a CCNA or more), then this book should help you succeed in your pursuit of your CCDA.
