This is one formidable compact bike headlamp! As the enclosed instructions say. on full beam, maximum power, the light is as bright as a car headlight, so please use with discretion to avoid blinding on coming road users! Early this year, I purchased one of it's Cateye predecessors the EL-610RC at a special offer price from Cycle Store.A good light but this latest Cateye headlight leaves it and probably most of the opposition literally in the dark. Comparing the two side by side, the output from the volt 1200 on the 3rd lowest brightness setting, is equal to the EL-610RC at it's max. Also the colour temperature for the new lamp is white, whereas the light from the EL-610RC has a distinct blue tinge.General build quality is exemplary with a solid metal housing for the high power LEDs and it even comes in a well made quality box with a magnetic lid closure. Impressed with that! I shall be using this lamp during daylight cycling on Flash or Hyper Constant as I have done with older model, which I shall now use as a back up. The only small quibble is that the USB out put from my PC is a bit low meaning a lengthy charging period so I may invest in a dedicated separate USB charger. So, all in all an excellent purchase! A really useful feature, is the USB charging facility. This means: a) No more expensive to replace chargers to go faulty, as happened with my earlier Cateye EL-610RC headlight. b) The opportunity to do if needed, a charge wherever a USB outlet exists, either at work or a friend's home. Finally, due to the solid metal casing around the "business" end, unlike the EL610RC, this headlamp does NOT....interfere with the operation of my Cateye wireless computer. With the EL-610RC operational, the MPH/Speed function will not display or shows intermittently due to radio interference from the high power LEDs. With the Volt 1200 at all settings, no problems!
