These are amongst the most comfortable footwear I have ever bought. They are unusual in that the sole and heel are not standard design, but instead are densely covered with flexible rubber dimples, as is the toe and part of the back, not unlike those on a table-tennis bat though somewhat larger. These provide an unusual sensation when standing as the body of the shoe will move slightly on the dimples as you shift your weight as well as a strange sensation when walking, presumably due to the dimples flexing, which you will soon accept. They also squeak and squeal somewhat on some hard surfaces - it is noticeable but not overwhelming. I don't really consider these as shortcomings, just a little surprising when first experienced. Outstanding value at Amazon's current price.
