A New York anthropologist, named Professor Harold Moore (Robert Kerman), travels to the wild, inhospitable jungles of South American with two local guides to find out what happened to a documentary film crew which disappeared nearly a year earlier while traveling into the same jungle, called the 'Green Inferno' to film a documentary about reputed cannibal tribes. After a long search and encountering a few primitive tribes, Professor Moore finds the remains of the crew and several reels of their undeveloped film. Upon returning to the USA, Professor Moore views the film in detail featuring the travels of the director Alan Yates (Gabriel York), his assistant Faye Daniels (Francesa Ciardi), and cameramen Jack Anders (Perry Pirkanen) and Mark Tomaso (Luca Giorgio Barbareschi) venturing into the jungles where the inexperienced, street-wise film group, after finding the indigenous tribes to docile for their film, decide to push them for kicks, with drastic consequences, Extream italian cannibal gore, not for the faint hearted.Previously banned all over the world. Possibly the most disturbing film ever made. A must own for fans of gory italian cinema. I found the start quite boring and very slow, and in parts a bit confusing as I wasn't sure where we were in the film. But did things then heat up. It looks so real and puts Blair Witch to shame. It is made to look like a snuff film, but it isn't, all actors are still alive, the same can't be said for the animals. In total 7 are killed and these are real animals, that is really difficult to watch. For a film that is over 30yrs old, this is just as horrific as anything filmed today, just keep telling yourself it's not a snuff film.

sick 5 Aug 2010
as a gore lover i thought i had seen some pretty sick films but this one is the sickest..after a slow start and dreadful acting things heat up after an hour.. i began to realise why the filming was poorly shot, the bad acting etc its because they are trying to make it appear as real as possible and taking you on a journey you will never forget.the mutilation scenes towards the end are horrific and almost real..i assume this isnt a snuff movie and real people killed
any gore lover must have this film and sick bags handy
