Count on affordable photo and everyday printing

Original HP supplies

Ink is much more than just coloured water; the unique, hi-tech formula for HP ink is designed to work with all the mechanical parts of the print cartridge, and the printer itself, to deliver high quality results across a wide range of papers, in a variety of environmental conditions.

Why Original HP Inks?

It takes up to three years to develop new inks, so a huge amount of work goes into producing Original HP Inks, from the selection of superior ingredients to precision engineering of both the chemical formula of the ink and the high-performance ink cartridge components.

The print cartridge itself is the product of years of research and development and is much more than just an ink tank. The integrated print head on an HP cartridge includes an intelligent circuit that controls the hundreds of nozzles, each finer than a human hair, which deliver the ink onto the page. Each drop of ink is fired onto the page on the back of a tiny vapour blast of heat 7 times the intensity of the sun that lasts for just two millionths of a second; this energy blast exposes the ink drop to forces up to one million G's. Some of the latest Original HP ink cartridges can deliver in excess of 29 million drops per second.

In many of HP's home printers, over 50 percent of the printing technology is contained within the cartridge itself; which means every time you replace your Original HP Ink Cartridge you are installing a brand new print engine. Original HP Inks are developed in conjunction with HP papers to ensure maximum compatibility and performance. The result is the perfect balance of colour, permanence and reliability.

After reading the negative reviews which seem to be displayed first I noticed some very positive reviews.

I took a gamble and ordered. The printer came through promtly next day and was packaged wonderfully.

Now the crucial bit, the setup.

It was a breeze. Setup was fine. Following the panel instructions the printer went through its setup process, connected to my wireless network so easily.

Setting up the email address which is allocated to the printer so you can send documents, photos etc. was easy too. And you know what. It just works.

Even my iPhone and iPad see the printer and can print to it via Apples Airprint wireless to the printer.

Faxing is done via a free eFax account. If you are a heavy faxer then you will need to switch to a plus account. No phoneline is required.

Because I have kids the built in apps for printing pictures to colour in is a dream and easy too.

Forget the bad reviews, drivers etc must have been updated to eliminate any problems earlier reviewers had, not that I have noticed any issues to date.

Visually and from a build point this printer excels. Print quality, duplexing etc has all met my expectations. However, the Zeen 'tablet' ruins the whole experience for me, despite the devices quality feel, the os is so 'buggy' it make using it a truly painful and frustrating experience and on whole feels as if its still in beta testing. I had some small hope that the os update would rectify these unforgivable issues but I was bitterly disappointed. At the price you expect it to work well but sadly it does not.

On whole, if you want a good quality 'all in one' printer I think this will fit the bill, but if you are looking at it for the Zeen functionality I would save myself the money for now. As an eternal optimist I hope HP will rectify things soon .... but I won't be holding my breath.

I've left 2 reviews on other sites regarding this printer as I feel obliged to warn people about it, however they strangely are yet to appear on either website despite it being over a week ago, so I'll be interested to see if Amazon see it through. The specs on the eStation read really well, that's what attracted me to it initially but nothing is worth the aggro it caused when I did own it. The printer looks great and would be spot on for functionality, if it worked, which it doesn't. I had two of these in pretty quick succession, all the to and fro paid for by the supplier who continues to naively sell what is quite simply a fundamentally flawed product which should not be on sale.

Other reviews are correct about the easy setup, no argument there, it's once it's setup that the bizarre behaviour commences. I would go to bed with it working, but when I woke up the 'Zeen' as it's so ridiculously called (which by the way is the slowest and most unresponsive tablet I have ever used) would have ceased communicating with the printer altogether, and/or the printer had dropped it's wireless and refused to connect to the internet anymore. I have a good understanding of networking but nothing I could do could coax this thing back into life, trying all the usual rebooting of printer and router (despite everything else wireless in the house still working fine) didn't make any difference. I installed the update which strangely enough mentioned the symptom I was experiencing, gave it a static ip as recommended by the HP online troubleshooting, not a dickie bird, still just sat there doing nothing, I couldn't print from the pc nor could I print from the thing itself from one of the apps(which are good btw). Anyway, I get a second one to replace the original, that follows the exact same pattern until I return it for a refund, leaving me irritated and printerless.

The web prices vary wildly for the eStation, some almost 400 sovs, some under 300, both amounts are too much. I paid £330 when I bought it and despite it being what I consider expensive for a printer, at the time I was ok with it because of what it offered. However, I can look back now and say in no uncertain terms that this printer cannot justify the price tag no matter what, PC's etc are supposed to make our lives easier yet having to troubleshoot the thing every single night is about as far from an easy life as possible. I have struggled to find many negative reviews about the eStation which does strike me as odd, almost as if there is something to hide, and I find myself reluctant to believe people that say theirs work's fine; the eStation needs to be recalled from sale but I'm guessing that's too bitter a pill for HP to swallow so instead they insist on wasting supplier's and customer's time by keeping it out there. In the end I bought a different HP printer called the ENVY 100 because as a brand they are really good, which although far less on paper (still has the apps though), is a lovely printer and actually works with not a single hiccup. My parent's have an older Photosmart model, that's also good as gold, it's just the eStation that's the weak link in the chain. Perhaps they should have left it well alone, "if it aint broke" you know the rest, I reckon HP got too caught up in the concept of reinventing the wheel by taking printers to the next level using the current tablet obsession as inspiration, that they forgot to actually make sure it worked.

Do yourself a favour, skip past this model and buy any other HP photosmart printer, then get yourself an ipad if you still want a tablet to fiddle with. Two bits of kit from different manufacturers will work better together than the eStation works with itself, the P.O.S.
