I've recently been introduced to hobby lockpicking, so this was my first pick set purchase - made with only on-line recommendations and a basic understanding of what I'd need - This set was recommended for UK locks on lockpicking101.com
The set is sturdy and nicely made, it has everything you'll need to start picking right away. I bought a selection of padlocks to practice on and was surprised how easy it was to open them using this set, though the larger and more expensive one took quite a while to pick the first time (though that's not the fault of the set!).
I originally expected this to be a good 'starter' set, but that I would have to buy more picks, however it seems that this set will be good for almost any type of locks and only very specialist ones require different pick types not included here, which really extends the value of the set.
You get a nice selection of picks and four tension wrenches (including a slimline one) which are also good quality and don't bend, the leather case is adequate and offers protection for your picks but don't expect it to be amazing quality - after all you pay for the picks not the case they come in.
In comparison - a friend of mine purchased a set from China instead (it was cheaper), and although the picks are similar and he got a couple more, his tension wrenches bent the first time he used them and his picks are scratched and a little twisted after only a few days of practice.
All in all, highly recommended, and if you're like me and are just getting into this hobby, this is a great set to start with.
