Lewis's essays 1 Sep 2011
By RR Waller TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
The following section headings, each sub-divided into roughly ten essays each, give a rapid insight into the range of writing:
English and Literature
The Art of Writing and the Gifts of Writers
Education and History
Philosophical Writing
Some Everyday Thoughts
Short Stories.

Although each essay is fascinating, the first two sections with essays on "The Hobbit", "Lord of the Rings" - two books by his great friend and fellow Inkling, and "On Three Ways of Writing for Children", were my reason for buying the book. They lead me to the others. Lewis is a very clear writer who uses his Language with great care of someone who studies it, making him a pleasure to read.

No one does it better. He is an unabashed Christian. Erudite and humble, a rare combo.
