Nice not to use CD-RW !!!, 16 Nov 2003
I bought this memory key to overcome the problems with swapping data with people that have different versions of DirectCD which meant that it was impossible to write to CD-RW disks if you had formated the CD-RW with different versions of DirectCD.The pen drive is fast, and takes up the next available drive letter (irrespecive of logical settings / partitions etc). I tested it out on Linux distributions and worked no problems, same for WindowsXP - non of which drivers were required. However, to use on Windows98SE, I had to install a driver. The problem I encountered was that despite me installing the USB 1 driver (as I did not have USB 2 connection), the device was not recognised, on reboot Windows tried to install the driver and failed. I later found an article online (not with the device), that you should install the USB 2 driver even if you only have USB 1 on your system. Once this was done, the device was recognised no problems. The documentation is very minimal, which is no problem in itself as it's so easy to use, but the documentation etc. is also supplied on the accompanied CD in PDF format. You'll probably have to use the supplied USB cable as the pen drive is slightly "fat" in width and may prevent other USB devices being connected because the connections are so close together on the computer. A very good product. Once you use this - you won't want to go back to CD-RW disks.
