Whilst a 5 crown review may seem abit extravagant to some,I personally think it deserves the honour, but then again I'm biassed as I was born and raised in Bradford. Bygone Bradford paints a wonderful picture of what life was like in the 20th century in a hard working class Northern city. With page after page of black and white photographs capturing the ups and downs of a city and its people.Through peace time and war, fires and floods the history of the city is laid bare capturing the events as they happened and the reactions of the people to these events. Each photograph is accompanied by a short narrative explaing whats taking place in the picture, though more often than not the expressions on peoples faces to the events surrounding them needs no explanation. I thoroughly enjoyed feasting my eyes on the old Express dairy where I spent many cold early mornings helping to load up my Dad's van for thedaily delivery of milk, and the Lister Park Lido where we used to jump the wall and go for an outdoor swim. But you don't need to be from Bradford to enjoy the book anyone interested in history, photography or life in a gritty, hard working class Northern town will find this book a rare treasure. If a picture can say a thousand words then Bygone Bradford speaks volumes.

I love this book, all the old photos are amazing and I remember most of the places and buildings in them. I'm so glad I ordered it, fast delivery too!
