5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! 2 July 2008

I already bought the "starter kit" with 1 remote and 3 4-amp sockets. I have since purchased these 13 amp sockets and a couple more remotes.
This is an excellent product, and a great idea.
I have several TV/DVD/Audio sytems and my computer peripherals run off gang-sockets.
With these systems I can quickly switch everything off and avoid stand-by. They are relatively small and slimline, nice price compared to "intelligent gang sockets", and far less obtrusive.
The "programming" combination options are great also.
I wish I could find more things to use them with!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars These are just so good 28 Feb 2009
By Mikep
I have been using these wireless sockets for several months and they are reliable and easy to set up and use.I was shocked to find that my microwave was consuming 65W on standby-but the socket is hard to reach - not any more! With these plug in sockets you can choose to turn off everything as a 'group' or each individually - you can get a PIR to switch on lights when you enter the house or wireless switches stuck to any wall - they are so versatile and pays for themselves so quickly. There is even a small keyfob extra that can turn on/off all your lights or whatever as you enter/leave your house.
100% recommended and can save a lot of standby costs!
PS this is heavy duty socket - start with a set likeBye Bye Standby Energy Saving Remote Control Kitand add this to the system - or just a remote control!

1.0 out of 5 stars Broken 12 Aug 2010
I have 3 of these units and 2 of them have failed. They are both stuck in the on mode and won't turn off. I can hear them click when I press the button on the remote control but they don't actually switch on and off. I've had them for about a year or so. The energy taken to manufacture, market and distribute them will not offset the carbon I have saved from using them in that period of time. So, if this is a widespread problem then they are actually doing more harm than good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Couch potato's dream 21 Feb 2010
I bought these plugs even though they were by no means the cheapest because I wanted a set where I could buy additional plugs to go onto the master remote control. The remote has 4 switches and several plugs can be aligned to one switch. You can have lots more plugs on the master switches and can add even more by using an extension socket lead. I do have a set of just two plugs bought very cheaply from my supermarket. They too have always worked perfectly for the last 2 years.
This new set is really a couch potato's dream. They switch on my side lights, computer and TV stand-by plugs, Switch on the lights in the garden, the tumble drier through one wall and the electric blanket and side light through two walls. It is great not to have to struggle getting behind furniture to cope with plug sockets. The main pleasure is knowing that you can buy extra plugs for this unit when you discover yet another lazy service. Now, how can I organise one to warm up my car in the morning!!

1.0 out of 5 stars High power are units are unreliable 13 Mar 2009
By Welgita
The basic Bye Bye Standby product is great and works very well. However these high power versions are very unreliable. I bought 3 starter packs and 2 high power sockets. All the stnadrd rating sockets are working fine but both the high power sockets have failed (one is stuck on, the opther is stuck off). So stick with the basic items and you'll be fine.
