Product Description

Product Description

Holocaust survivor HENRY MELNICK was born in Lodz, Poland. Shortly after the Nazis occupied Poland in 1939, he was sent to do slave labour in the Nowy Sącz, Tarnów Ghettos and Szebnie camp. He was then transferred to Auschwitz-Birkenau, Buna, Dora-Mittelbau and Bergen-Belsen death camps. When his parents were murdered in the Belżec death camp, he became the sole survivor of his entire family. After liberation, Henry volunteered for the Israeli Army and fought for Israel’s independence. He came to Canada in 1965 with his wife Hela and their two children.

His story is one of strength and courage. His survival is nothing short of a miracle.

Some content of this book may not be suitable for children. All profits from the sale of this book go directly to Holocaust education.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1st hand account 7 Dec 2014

So important we remember what happened and the enduring anti-semitism which pervaded life both pre and post war, within Nazism and more widely across western society. That made the holocaust so much more possible, and so very real a risk in the future. Henry was a true survivor and he certainly lives on through the love of his family and these recollections, in his own words.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT 11 Jun 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is very well written a great but very sad insight into the atrocities people like Henry suffered all because he was Jewish so the monsters involved hopefully were hanged its difficult to grasp human beings are capable of such acts pleased Henry's life was very happy after such a traumatic experience .he was so determined to survive.

This book indeed touches the heart. It is hard to understand how such a cultural country could stoop to such atrocities
