Pretty good MOR indie pop, in parts 27 Jan 2010
By Nobody - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Shabby Rogue is a UK four piece, and they don't quite seem to know who they are. Some of the CD is very straightforward mod pop, the songwriting is consistently good, nice melodies and they maintain the beat. But then they veer off into the "single" (not that you'll ever hear it on domestic radio) "Secret Agent", which is goofy, and not very good (I hate novelty). In "Every Light" they channel Bob Dylan in Nashville with cheesy horns, yech, what's the point of that? "Hook" is a long dirge that goes nowhere and could have been two-thirds shorter with no loss. I don't know what to make of this, I recognize the talent, but this is not what I want to hear. Next time maybe.
