Great selection.....if only i could learn and quote them by heart. Id also recommend the larger Faber anthology by Hughes and Heaney: The Rattle Bag.

There's an amazing amount of great material readily accessible 8 Mar. 2015
By T. McLaughlin - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I wonder if society will rediscover poetry. Of course, it's not the poems per se but the wishing for what the poems articulate that one finds missing in our world. Well, people yearn for it or they don't: you can't force it. If we all yearned for it, we would find it. There's an amazing amount of great material readily accessible, in fact, it's never been easier to access, but as far as our world is concerned it might as well by billions of light years away. Actually, now that I think about it, maybe now is the time. When I was growing up, there were still people who would throw around quotes and names of poets as part of their persona, the purposeless vanity. Someone would recite just to prove they were better than you or knew something you ought to know. Now it doesn't matter. If you try to use the names T.S. Eliot or Emily Dickinson or Ted Hughes as tools to assert your superiority, no one knows who you're talking about and fail to be hurt. So maybe now the spiritually needy can find the goodness these old poets left behind.
