Lie back and relax... 16 May 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
After seeing Rosie in Edinburgh last summer, I ordered the album as soon as it became available... the songs on this album are fantastic, bar none. From the chirpy laid back Sweet Girl, to the higher tempo of Song for Dolly (which is my personal favourite) you'll be drawn in by the sweet melodies and the obviously quality of the band (the whole package was 'Rosie Brown and This' a while ago, it'd seem that the two have blended together).

Rosie's soft voice fits the music perfectly, almost forcing you to sit back and relax... this isn't a CD that you'll listen to and want to start a riot afterwards - Big Blue Building on it's own will make you smile, before By the Bye politely reminds you that drumming along on the nearest table/knee/sofa won't make you look silly if the music's right.

This isn't something you should be without, and anyone who has doubts about their abilities shouldgo to a gig and see them, you won't be disappointed.

Describing the music of a band who just can't be pigeonholed is always a challenge: but wanting to come back again and again and again - knowing there are tracks for contemplative moments, tracks for bouncy random moments and tracks which ALWAYS make you smile, just because - that's magic. Described as "luxury music" by others, Rosie & Co experiment with so many instruments it's hard to keep count, and yet always add that extra dimension lost in so many other places through sticking to the same instruments. At times almost jazzey, at others a little bit soulful but 300% delicious, this is a cd every household should possess.
