Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

If you've listened to the radio in the last fifty years and you know how to buzz, then you're all set to be the next contestant on Buzz: The Music Quiz

Buzz brings the music game-show to your living room, testing your music trivia and buzzer skills. Included with the game are a set of four bespoke buzzers which lets four people play right away, and provides an interface that even a techno-zero would understand.

'Buzz' is your host, complete with an all-knowing smile, a catchphrase, a glamorous assistant called 'Rose' and his very own theme tune. You can select a playable contestant to suit your personal music taste, choose from 16 different characters including a pop diva, a rocker, a punk, an Elvis and a disco dude.

There are over 1,000 music clips--all international chart-toppers from the 1950s through to 2005--and over 5,000 questions to test your knowledge, either by playing solo in a fast paced single-player mode or with your friends in the multiplayer game. You can choose to play in short bursts, or over a longer period if you want to. All wins and losses can be saved to memory cards if you need to refer to them at a later date!

There are eight different rounds that will give you the opportunity to prove your music muscle:

  • Point Builder: A nice simple round to start off with which lets you build up some points to lose or build on - in later rounds.
  • Snap: If you see the right answer appear onscreen, then Buzz in as fast as you can. Beware though; you'll need lightning reactions to beat your competitors.
  • Fastest Finger: The quicker you buzz, the more points you'll see.
  • Offloader: Whether you know the answer or not is irrelevant. More importantly, who do you think doesn't know? This is your opportunity to get your rivals to answer the questions you don't want to.
  • Pass the Bomb: Answer the question correctly to pass the bomb to the next contestant, but don't get caught holding it as it goes off.
  • Point Stealer:Time to seek revenge on those that have crossed you in the past.
  • Buzz Stop: Good hand-eye co-ordination and an aptitude for inane trivia are all that's required for this round. This is a pass or play round, so Buzz in if you want no-one else to have the chance to answer the question if you know it, and pass if you don't.
  • Look Before You Leap:The final round, so there is everything to play for here. Buzz in as soon as you know the answer, but watch out as hastiness could be a bad move: if you don't know the answer, you'll lose points.
  • Tie-Breaker: And finally, a game-show would not be a game-show without the ubiquitous Tie-Breaker

5.0 out of 5 stars Buzz the music quiz 20 Nov 2005
    By FME
This is brilliant for a bit of fun! we bought it for a new years eve game but have already played it loads. Best with 4 but two can still have fun. You need to be at least mid teens to start to have a chance with the music though mid 30's is best to stand a chance on all music categories. BUY IT you will not be dissappointed. Hopefully other packages will be out soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is going to be great for Xmas! 25 Oct 2005
    By A Customer
This is a great product; you pretty much get to be in a TV music quiz on your Playstation 2. Buzz is as cheesy a quiz show host as you'd ever see and has lots of corny lines (and a glamorous assistant). But the best bit is that you play against your friends or family - great fun when you're that little bit faster than them to spot a song title, or when you know something they don't. The rounds are really well chosen so that it's not all about fast reactions, and even if there's one runaway muso playing there's real competition for the other spots. The buzzers are pretty cool too - a much better idea than trying to do a quiz with the regular PS/2 controller. Anyway, playing this with a whole group of mates is really cool and I reckon it's going to be great over Xmas. And there are songs from the 1950s all the way up until today so even your mum can have a go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Feeling the buzz, from BUZZ! 2 Jan 2006
Buzz, is quite simply, one of the better 'Party Games' that has been released on gaming systems.
This game lets up to four people battle it out against each other to see who knows their Bee-gees from their Beatles!
All different types of music from the 'golden oldies' to the hip and happening music of recent years lets the grandparents play with their grand children and actually have a fighting chance!
There is a good selection of playable characters with their own quirks and comments they say when they win/lose.
Quiz master also lets someone else play the host and ask their own set of devious quiestions to the victims... sorry, contestants.
There are good prizes that you can win as well, but I wont spoil the game by telling you what they are.
The novlety is definatley in the buzzers, made just for this game! They kind of look like they should be on Star-Trek or something... "set your buzzers to 'moron'"
Even if you are not great at music quizes, the producers of BUZZ are bringing out more types of quies titles...
    1) Music
    2) Uber (probally general knowledge)
    3) Movies
    4) Sports
Personally i cant wait to get the next titles...
I recomend this game to most people, but if your very compettive, i can see many Days spent trying to beat your friends best score!
Now, im going to BUZZ off...
    You will enjoy this game!

    5.0 out of 5 stars BUZZ a must have. 2 Jan 2006
I recently was given this game for a christmas present and to be honest i'm very sinical about anything carrying such a hype around it. But WOW, what a game. 8 levels in the long game, no loading screens like irritating dvd based games, and above all it really does take family gaming to another level. Fastest finger, point stealing is to name but a few levels in this very addictive music genre game. You can even choose betwen old and new music, or even combine. I've had a playstion 2 from the very begining and this is definately one of the best games i've ever played. The best for multi play by far.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Buzztastic!!! 28 Dec 2005
I bought this for myself (from santa of course) to play on Christmas day after dinner - and I'm very glad I did. It's really easy to understand and I had my character sorted within 2 minutes! The buzz controls really make it feel like an interactive game show and the range of music means its possible for mixed ages to play (we were between 21 and 34). Fabulously entertaining and I can't wait for buzz movies and general knowledge when they come out (not bothered about the sport one!!) Buy it - its ace!!!

    5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant family game 13 Nov 2005
Dont believe the other bad reviews on here about this game, because if you love music and love playing games with your family then this is for you. Sure, some of the rerecordings are poorly done, but I`ve played it a lot now, and not once have I not recognised a song because of the quality of the re-recording. The presentation is superb, the buzzer peripherals are brilliant and its a really good fun family game. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not MasterMind But A Whole Lot of FUN !!!! 14 Nov 2005
I played this game with three of my freinds and I thought it was one of the best multiplayer family games available.
The music is not always the best and the gameplay can be a little slow but this should not matter when you have seen the games good points.
The game has several different types of levels including pass the bomb were you have to answer a question correct to pass the bomb before the timer runs out. each level has a different theme giving the game a whole lot more than "who wants to be a millionaire".
Not only can you score points but you can loose them too by giving a wrong answer or getting blown up by a bomb or be realy unlucky and have a friend remove points from you.
If there is one thing that should make you buy this game is simply the fact that for £30.00 you get a game and 4 controlers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is it possible to have more fun with your PS2????? 22 April 2006
    By Tealady2000 VINE VOICE
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Until recently it seemed that the only console games you could buy involved hacking, slashing or racing. At last the manufacturers have realised that there is a market for fun family games like dance mats and Eye Toy - and now Buzz!!

This is the music version and it's brilliant fun. Each real-life player picks one of the on-screen contestants, which are suspiciously like real rock stars (Elvis, Barry White, Bob Marley, Geri Halliwell, Liam Gallagher and that guy from Green Day amongst others). You can choose to have questions on new music (80's onwards) or older music (50's to 80's) and you can choose various game modes and game lengths - multiplayer or individual.

In the multiplayer modes there are lots of different rounds where you can win and lose points. If one player is too much of a smartypants and is too far in the lead you can steal points from them in the later rounds. At the end of the game the winning contestant gets a fabulous prize which can be anything from a roast chicken to world peace.

The host of the game show (Buzz) is voiced by Jason Donovan and he makes a good job of it. There are plenty of funny one-liners to keep things moving along between questions. We noticed after playing for hours and hours that some of the questions do come round again but this did not spoil our enjoyment. This is a game that will keep the whole family entertained for ages! (NB you need a set of Buzz hand-held buzzers to play this game).
