Full of helpful tips - we have found this book extremely useful, it is packed full of information and advice and includes 'tips' and short sections written by people who have bought setting out their experiences. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to buy in Spain.

I bought this book earlier this year as my partner & I are planning on retiring to Spain in the next couple of years. I have found it muddled, repetitive and self-contradicting. The useful content could be fitted into a book of half this size. The little notes and comments on nearly every page are very distracting when you are trying to read the main body of the text. A lot of the information, prices etc are out of date now, and no updated edition is available (so far as I am aware).

The fact is that an American moving abroad is as likely to be successful at it as walking on the moon. The regs are impossible, the dollar worthless and the local opinion of Americans is--well, after Bush, not very high. The main prob w/ the book is that it only pertains to EU buyers. Americans can only stay 3 months out of every 6 and that is difficult. Save your money.

This is a comprehensive guide to buying a house in Spain.And if you want to be comfortable in your new home then consider building your own. It needn't be expensive, it can certainly be simple, and you get exactly what you want rather than something someone else has designed. Look at my profile for more on this.
