Product Description

Product Description

A growing number of people are interested in buying property in Morocco with its ancient towns, coastal resorts and snowy peaks. This North African kingdom boasts 1,400 miles of coastline, year-round sunshine and an open invitation to foreign investment and has seen a sharp increase in the numbers of house-buyers from abroad over the last four years. Buying a House in Morocco is aimed at anyone seriously considering purchasing a property in Morocco to live in permanently, rent out, or transform to a guesthouse. Extensively researched and informatively written, it will give readers a rich insight into what to expect and how to go about fulfilling their dream for a new home. Morocco offers an enormous range of housing, from the traditional dars and riads of the medina to the villas, new developments and old Moroccan style farmhouses of the countryside. The regional guide also covers the different types of properties to be found in each region, such as -Swiss-style chalets in Ilfrane.-The riads (grand courtyard homes) in Marrakesh. -Elaborate Andalusian villas in Tangier. -Kasbahs in the Draa Valley. In line with the Moroccan government s aim to quadruple tourism to 10 million visitors a year by 2010 the appeal to potential homebuyers will keep increasing. Approximately $5b is being invested in six luxurious coastal resorts including golf courses and luxury villas and on improving the country s infrastructure and accessability. This spells good news for the letting market, for guesthouse owners and for those who are purchasing homes as an investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars A cracking riad, sorry, read!, 23 May 2006
At last a practical and informative book on Morocco. I first started my house hunt in Marrakech 3 years ago, but gave up because the lack of information was too stressful - different information from everyone I spoke to. I am now going back to Morocco in 3 weeks time armed with this book and hoping to buy some land to build on to, the process for which is explained very clearly in the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buying in Morocco, 14 Jun 2006

Having already bought two properties off plan this book
is really helpful its a mix of many books already read by myself and will be very usefull in the future.

There is clearly nothing like this book on the market and gives many insights into little known areas, giving you ideas to look for further Morocan property bargains which are still out there

Well done Abby.

Richard Chapman

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the buy and worth the read!, 6 Jun 2006

This is a really good book, packed with information not only about property, although it has some fantastic insight into the varied property market all over the country, but also with excellent practical information about Morocco as a whole, stuff which the guide books never mention. It is written in a chatty, welcoming style and really inspires someone sitting on the fence about buying Moroccan property just to bite the bullet and go for it. A good analysis of the property market in even the most remote parts of Morocco shows that some really intricate research has been done and I never knew that Morocco had such a wide range of properties including swiss style ski chalets in the Middle Atlas!
