Product Description

From the Publisher

The idea of "Buy to Let" may have attracted your interest because of concern about your pension or as a way of investing.

Whatever the reasons, "Buy to Let" by Stuart Powers will help you to decide if it is for you.

Stuart starts by clearly explaining the key steps you would need to take in order to be successful in buying and letting residential property.

He then focuses on five key issues that really matter, ranging from estimating likely profits through to selecting an agent and taxation of profits.

Finally he looks at how to avoid the most common pitfalls, such as disputes with tenants about the deposit and minimising gaps between tenants. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very inspiring 11 Aug 2003
By A Customer
I bought this book as we have decided to let our property rather than sell it.

It is a very straightforward, easy to read little guide that covers an awful lot in its 80 pages. It is broken down into 3 clear sections that even include true case studies and how to work out your profit margin, along with finding an agent or the tricky subject of taxes.

For someone who is on the first step of the property development ladder, it has given us the confidence to think about doing this second time around in a couple of years time and avoiding some of the pitfalls that are so easy to make.

A great little book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended 2 Aug 2002
By A Customer
This book gives the essential facts you need to consider when starting in Buy to Let.

The first section is good on discussing returns for different types of property and the amount of personal involvement you want and
how this will affect the income.

The section on likely income is clear and to the point followed by a section on risk reduction and finances, followed by advice on use of letting agents and taxation.

The book ends with how to avoid common pitfalls and a host of random tips.

I especially like the way each section is followed by a case study to reinforce the topic.

4.0 out of 5 stars A basic Guide For Letting Property 22 Mar 2004
Stuart Powers: Buy To Let, The Key Steps is exactly what the title says. It is a book best suited to those who have not yet researched the buy to let provisions and gives a key insight into where to look, and what to look for. It is a short book which can easily be read during other activities (such as in a break) and fits neatly into a pocket or handbag due to its size. It covers all the basics and stimulates the desire for further reading. This book is ideal for those at the beginning of their research into this area. It does not go into specific detail but provides recommendations on other points of contact. The case studies give a practical element to the theory and explain it well. A good book to start with.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good BASIC intro 6 Aug 2006
By Spider Monkey HALL OF FAME TOP 500 REVIEWER

This is a good basic introduction to buy-to-let property. It has information on most aspects of buy-to-let but only in a very cursory, passing way. This is good for those with no knowledge on buy-to-let and points you in the right direction to find follow up information. Don't expect in-depth insights into this type of investment, but it is useful in learning about buy-to-let terms and procedures. Worth a look if you're a complete beginner, otherwise look elsewhere.
