5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Butterfly Ball 8 Mar 2009
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I first had this book as a child in the seventies and was stunned by Aldridge's artwork alone. Even today, it stands head and shoulders above many pieces of artwork. Plomely's words summon up the essence of long, hot innocent summers of the past, plus been a source of imagery and inspiration in my own field of arts and crafts.

So get your gladrags on and follow the crowd - Miss Money-Spider, Harold the Herald et al. The Buttefly Ball is not to be missed :-)

Bought this book to read to my kids as I loved it as a child. Still makes me smile and the illustrations are wonderful, so glad I found book and can pass on the joy of reading it.

Our copy was so well used by our children, we bought a new one for the grandchildren and the CD as the old audio tape was no longer ablet to be used. CD far better quality as well

5.0 out of 5 stars Childhood Favourite 14 Mar 2013
By Ness
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
came to me in a flash of inspiration after searching for variations for years (insect party / Cricket's gathering... I just couldn't remember it at all)
It seems so obvious now.
The story is beautifully written and remember years ago laying under my cabin bed looking at the pictures of the mole, the gnat and all the others and imagining myself there.
I even grew up to be an artist I was so enamoured by this book.
Thank you Mr Aldridge for your marvellous artwork
